I'm cool with trading for Iggy but they want a young player, expiring contract and probably a pick...Yao probably wouldn't do it for them. I can't pull up the trade machine at work but something like Shane, Hill or PP, something else and 2012 #1 should do it.
It doesn't really change much because the Piston's game was not a guaranteed return date, it was a target date. But you still haven't show any evidence that: 1. Obtaining Brand and Iggy would make us better in the short-term. 2. Obtaining Brand and Iggy would make us better in the long-term. 3. Obtaining Brand and Iggy would make us an attractive team to any real superstars. We already have an Iggy in Kevin Martin. We are in need of post play, a playmaker, and defense. Brand is just as injury prone as Yao and has a worst contract. So how would it help us in any way to get him? The benefits of keep Yao and evaluating him when he is healthier is far greater than any benefit of getting Brand and Iggy. A trade like that only helps if you bring in a Melo, CP3, or other superstar. Otherwise you are taking on horrible contracts and killing your future.
So if that doesn't work out were stuck with Brand's, Iggy's, and Martin's contracts? Awesome lets do it.
Hey clowns, we've been stuck in limbo with Yao and his contract sitting on the bench in a suit and you stillthink he is going to come back and save the day. Please, get over yourselves. Open your freakin eyes for once! Wht has Yao done for us?? Nothing but propmise to do better.
Perfect reason to be stuck in limbo with Brand, Iggy and Martin's long term contracts! Lets be mediocre for at least another 3 years! Woo!
You don't think aquiring Iguodala and Brand now would put us back in the hunt? Yes, the contracts suck, but the huge potential is there. We are currently in limbo now not able to move forward because of being built around Yao. Besides, they don't have to get Brand. That was just a suggestion in case Phillie wouldn't budge on Iguodala.
??????? Sixers are last in the league with iggy and Brand, with better younger talent.....maybe not as deep of a bench. But Iggy and Brand ain't exactly leading the sixers to the playoffs in the East.
how about we just keep yao and hope he re-signs for cheap. after that we need to get a legit big man and realize it is a bonus when yao is healthy enough to play. yes???!?!?!
That sounds nice and all, but, IMO, Yao is going to retire at the end of this season. Just a feeling.
So they'll just give up their first round draft pick for Aaron Brooks an undersized point guard who probably won't mesh well with Tyreke, and for Jermaine Taylor a 2nd round draft pick that really doesn't do anything other than warm the bench. Riiight. Sixers trading their star player for Budinger, Jeffries, and Yao? LMAO. GMs aren't r****ded, nobody in their right minds would agree to a trade like this. This trade isn't even that good for the Rockets. Brand? Overrated, overpaid, SUCKS. Cousins would be stacked behind a plethora of Rocket post players already on the team... Hill, Hayes, Scola, Patterson.
No, acquiring Brand and Iggy won't put us in the hunt. Brand isn't good enough at this stage to put us over the Lakers, or even the Mavs or Spurs. And again, what does Iggy provide that we don't already have in Kevin Martin. He brings more defense, but he still isn't a player that will demand double teams night in and night out. Neither is Brand. Yao on the other hand has the potential to provide us that. Our guys can't hit jumpers off the dribble. We have players that thrive off the spot-up jumpers and threes. At this point, only Yao and Brooks can allow those guys to do what they do best. Now if we can add Iggy without losing Kevin Martin or Yao or Brookd, then we can talk. Otherwise, let the 76ers stay at the bottom of the East. And yes, their contracts suck.
Man these people are so stupid. OBVIOUSLY if we do get Iggy we would not be better than the Lakers or be in contention for the title. The reason for acquiring Iggy is so we can get a player which will boost us to the title contender status. People who are looking at keeping Yao is stupid as well. The main reason to why we can't land any superstars in the free agency is because of Yao Ming being the "centerpiece" of our team. By trading away the extremely injury prone player many free agents would look at the Rockets as a solid team with great depth in the bench and a good starting lineup not a team with no Star but with only an injury prone "past" superstar.
Salary cap. Martin + Brand + Iggy + Miller for 3 years = mediocrity at its finest, not good enough to win anything, not bad enough to get a lottery pick, not enough cap space to do anything. Better to let Yao expire and go from there than trade for Brand and Iggy. It turns out you are the stupid one
Everyone here knows exactly what you mean, but for some reason they want to continue clinging to Yao Mings nutz! If you want this team to turn the corner, you have to make big changes. Although, Happi, i have to disagree about Iguodala not making us a contender. The team has been in every game this season. To add a player with Iguodalas two way talent would definitely push us over the hump. All of these "Clutchfan Comedians" worrying about someone elses money wouldn't even think about that once the wins start pouring in. Do you want a championship or not?
There is no way the rockets trade yao with the type of revenue he helps bring in along with his global presence not happening IMO
