If you want Yi the rockets would have to trade either Yao or Tmac.

No one else on the rockets even comes close to netting a top 5 pick in this past nba draft, even if said draft pick is unhappy with his situation.

    eot.

Do you have a plan? If not the suicide prevention course says you're not in danger.

Yi is good, but not Yao or TMac good. Not yet, he is not worth that. We try to trade for him, but I doubt the Rockets would waste resources on a maybe.

Well the Bucks would be better off trading him and getting something out of it rather than him refusing to sign there and return to China.

I think a package of Rafer, our 1st round pick next year, and maybe another player could entice them...

I posted this in another thread. I don't think it would be impossible to get Yi - remember that we once got the #2 pick, Francis, from Vancover for chump change. But it would take an aggressive owner willing to effectively dump $30 million, which we probably do not have. After Milwaukee re-signs Mo Williams, Milwaukee will probably still have enough cap room to offer Darko more than a MLE contract. Here's how we can help them have even more cap room to sign Darko, while at the same time heisting Yi from them:

Trade Battier + Head + Novak in exchange for the rights to Yi and Bobbie Simmons. Simmons was overpaid even before he missed all of last year with feet and ankle injuries and is due 30 million over the next three years. This would give the Bucks a starting SF in Battier, would put them another $1.5 million below the cap to help them sign Darko (which works because we would send less salary to Milwaukee, but still be within 25% of Simmons' contract), and relieve them of what was ranked the 10th worst contract in the NBA:

    http://winningtheturnoverbattle.blogspot.com/2007/06/worst-contracts-in-nba.html

Imagine the marketing bonanza of the "New Chinese Wall" of Yao and Yi? Maybe Les could make back the $30 million he loses in taking on the Simmons contract from the hysteria of the Yao/Yi one/two punch. If we could only trade our owner for Paul Allen, this could happen tomorrow. ;)

theres no one on the rockets besides yao or tmac that the bucks will take for yi. they are going to be looking for top-10 draft pick guys for Yi, because thats what they used on him. Role players will not get this trade done unless 1st round draft picks are included.

First of all, the Greek National Team is a whole lot better than the Chinese...

Secondly, Jake Tsakalidis isn't even on the Greek National Team...

Lastly, (and least important) the impact of the Greek players as a whole on the Rockets is miniscule when compared to the impact the Chinese players as a whole would have had we aquired Yi...

So before you get all defensive and take shots at people's logic, AT LEAST look at the roster and know what you're talking about.

No thanks. Yi sucks, and his (or his agent team's) attitude is horrible.

This is simply not how the NBA works. Players have salaries, teams have salary caps, and franchises are businesses.

This theory that since no one but Yao and Mac are as good as Yi, we have to trade them to get him is nonsense.

It's absolutely ridiculous to think the Bucks, for example, wouldn't do this:

    Simmons + Gadzuric + Yi

    for

Battier + Sura + Head + next year's first rounder

However, that wouldn't be a good deal for us because it would cost us a heck of a lot of money.

IMO we're much better off chasing Villanueva. Yi will stay in Milwaukee.

We would have to give up Some First Rounders and Battier or either Tracy or Yao to get Yi on our hands.

I don't think Yi is that good. He has bust written all over him. Soft, disappears against lesser competition. And what's with the whole "I won't play in Milwaukee" garbage. Sure does think alot of himself for a 6th pick and a project. No thanks. Yi would fix nothing for us at PF. Hayes is presently a better option. We don't need potential right now. We need players who consistently bring it every night.

Yi's a selfish brat. Do we really want another one of those? How many Chinese people does it take to make someone feel comfortable?

    No thanks.

You don't know him personally so how can you judge him so harshly?

I dont' think he himself is displeased that much. It is more his agent, and management team who must think about endorsers.

Why all the Yi haters on here? I'm having flashbacks of all the analysts that said Yao would be a bust and take Jay williams instead. Yi may not be as good as Yao, but he is coming into the NBA more ready to play than Yao was in his 1st year.

As for a trade, Milwaukee fans would riot if we gave them anything other than T-Mac or Yao. They know even if they can't keep Yi they can do better than our trash. Milwaukee will proabably trade him to a team expected to win alot of ping pong balls (or whatever they use now) for their next #1 and at least a good prospect.

I'd love to see what the reaction on this board would have been if Yao had refused to play here and we traded him for similiar players we proposed for Yi and a draft pick in the high 20's.
