Grab an offensive rebound and then dunk on a NBA player, Ha SeungJin, Portland's center.

I found this clip in another thread.

Certainly has lively legs. BTW, it's Klotz, not Cruz.

so he dunked on a decent college center and an nba scrub....am i supposed to be impressed? there is more to the game of basketball, and more skills and talent necessary than dunking on players who will NEVER see the floor in an NBA basketball game. yes, the kid looks pretty talented but that doesn't mean he'll be a great nba player or even a good nba player. lets see what he does against stiffer competition before anointing him a lottery pick or up and coming star.

im not sure if he is going to be good or not, but i believe SI did a story on him a few years back, and said many good things about him. I wouldnt mind picking him up in the middle or late 1st round.

He was once projected as No.2 or No.1 pick in 2006 draft by nbadraft.net. That was until the Chinese Basketball Association issued a new ruling preventing Chinese players to enter the draft until 22 years old--meaning he won't be able to enter until 2009.

The kid has all the size, athletism, very nice jumpshot, can rebound, block, can put on the floor. There aren't too many young big men who can do that.

I'm not as high on this kid as I used to be. I saw him playing in the Asian Games this summer, and was not impressed with his progress since last year's Olympics. He still doesn't have much of a postup game.

In terms of body type and defensive ability he's very much like Pau Gasol (meaning he can block shots pretty well, and rebound a bit), but offensively he's pretty much just like Stro (with an adequate jumper, some faceup ablity, and some good athleticism). If he ever develops a jump-hook, or a running hook shot, then I'd be 99.9% sure that he'll turn out to be Gasol II in terms of production and game similarity.

As is, he's still going to be a 1st rounder for sure, with a chance at the lottery. Just about every single athletic 7-footer with some semblance of coordination in history has gone in the first round, so that's not going to change now.

And I doubt he'll be the second coming of Skita, since he can actually play some defense and score down low a bit. But until he polishes his offensive game, his ceiling will only be "solid starting NBA center".

How tall is he? I like his handles for his size, but not sure how good it will be when used in the NBA. I think he has a good upside too but not the next KG. More like a Ruben Patterson.. :p

okay, if he's the next KG is he putting up 22, 11, & 5 in china? if he can't do that against nbdl rejects in china, he isn't going to do it in the nba.

Yao at the same age averaged 10/8 in the same league.

By the way, I agree it's way premature to call this kid the next KG at this stage. The clips show this kid at his size does have amazing quickness and aggresiveness around the basket. I am sure a 7'1" who can run and jump like that will find a job in the NBA. But he has a lot of improvement to do in the next few years in order to get close to the level of KG.

Why don't we just wait for Milicic to become a FA and then sign him? He has at least better potential than this guy.

Your ability to jump to a conclusion based on a few clips is as good as the OP who proclaimed this guy is the next KG. :)
