I love the new logo. It's better than the majority of logos out there and I think it's great that it's not blatantly obvious that the logo is for a basketball team.

Also, people are saying that it's bad because there's no sign that its for a basketball team or sports team, etc. I suggest they look at the NY Yankees logo.

In any case, the logo looks hot and I'm confident that people will like it as the season rolls around.I bet that we go up drastically in terms of merchandise sales next year.

I've waited for this thing to grow on me, but the new logo blows. I think I can safely say after looking at it for a month that there is no presentation of this logo that will change my opinion of it. A few posts back someone mentioned that most people liked the new logo, however I remember reading a few days ago *somewhere* (maybe the chronicle) that about 2/3 of the people polled did not care for it. I'll see if I can dig it up.

ah, found it much quicker than expected.

    http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/rox/1987850

    The very last paragraph reads...

"At the Chronicle's Web site, www.chron.com, 22,516 votes were cast just before midnight Wednesday. Twenty-seven percent said the logo "looks great," 32 percent opted for "not bad" and 41 percent chose, "It's a joke, right?"

Not 2/3 like I thought, but when 41% of the people are hoping its a joke, its not a good sign.

Well, I put it up on my desktop where it has been there for 1 month now. It still does nothing for me, I guess I'm just in the "wrong" demographic. The logo looks more like a tatoo or glyph than a logo or trademark.

That is the same poll that I referred to. I guess you are a "cup half empty" and I am a "cup half full" person.

According to that poll, the majority of people ( 59%)do like it a lot or think it is OK. :)

    I believe you mean 59%.

That's enough support for a president to justify a war.

Yun, according to "Robert's Rules of Order" and parlamentary procedure, which is how government and law is put in to order... your 59% percent is actually made up of two opposing views, and is therefore called a plurality, not a majority... ;)

It means we want to see the unis before we decide....

"We" being the Rocket's observers in general.

I for 1 vote "thumbs up."

And I'd like to think the 59% is positive though out of those results. :)

I admit it - I'm lazy and I didn't read the entire thread, but here's my take...

The logo, like the Texan's logo, like any other pro sports logo; really doesn't matter. The only time it matters is when you plaster the crappy drawing all over your uniforms like the Rockets did with that last effort. Who the hell cares? I mean, look at the Celtics logo - its a gay Irish guy smoking a pipe or some sh it. But their unis are "classic." The new unis look good aparently, so screw the logo.

To those offended by my abrasive tone - I am truly sorry. But, somebody loves you despite your flaws, so hook a brother up with some karma and don't hate me.

    ;)

sell your crazies somewhere else. we're all stocked up in here.

    hehe.

good point about the unis mattering more than the logo, but it still look weird when lined up against the other teams logo like in that espn article.
