Rockets settle on a new logo (Chron)

my fellow computer geeks rejoice! the similiarities will render the logo victorius!

 

I hope there's more to it. Like maybe a 3d basketball behind it. Looks very plain...but thank god there's no cartoon character with teeth.

 

Please tell me that R part is not gonna be the main thing on the jerseys

 

the logo was clearly designed to have appeal to the asian market. the lettering and logo both look like font from japanimation or similar things.

 

I like it. It does look vaguely asian. Elegant yet distinctive.

 

I kinda like it. The single color, the font, etc, is not a problem for me. I really like the ring around the R. What I don't like is the concept of making the R rocket-like. Basketball is vertical, rockets are vertical, but Rs are not vertical. It seems like they were forcing the letter to do something it wasn't built to do. If it were an A or an I, then maybe, but not an R. But, really that is my only complaint about it. Otherwise, it's pretty slick.

 

That logo sucks! You guys are right I checked around the league we are gonna be the only team with a logo all in one color! It definately has a goth look to it, which isnt good for a new logo. Why couldnt we just update the old school rockets logo?? Hopefully the jerseys will look good, but I cant see hats with a R dripping blood being very popular. I think the team has let us down with the logo again.

 

Better than the dildo rocket but still horrible. I can't belive that we were all waiting on pins and needles for this.

 

This isn't what I expected, although it is tolerable...

It looks plain and bland, doesn't make me want to buy anything...yet...

I'll have to wait until the jersey and all colors come out b/f I'll think about buying it...

Yeah, I think we settled. Shoulda done better.

 

If we win, the logo will look amazing. Time to move on and focus on basketball...

 

You may be onto something there. But the Quake logo above is the inspiration I'm sure.

 

I agree with you...what the hell is that? Is it a logo? Just font and a big R....that is not a logo...

 

edit day two:

I actually am starting to like it a little bit more,but ONLY if they make the ring a different color than the R. Also,it does look freaking gothic.The more you look at it,the more gothic it appears and scarier. I can see why alot of old people wont like it. I can see why young people would like it.

 

Man, the negativity here is sickening. I think the new logo looks great.

 

FOr the most part, I really like it. My only issue is with the full-scale "Houston Rockets", because -- to me -- it looks like "Houston Rrockets," with two "r"s, the middle one and the smaller one. It's like the Appletree Grocery logo, which is an apple plus an apple tree, which read more like "Appleappletree."

Anyone else think that part is a little weird?

But i like the "R," I bet Prince will change his name to it.

You guys have just gotten too hyped up about this thing. It would have been decidedly difficult to live up to expectations.

That's the first thing that came to my mind, how the letters looked asian, and it sure can't be a coincidence...

It's... adequate.

I liked the look of the big "R" taking off.

Anything is an improvement over the old one anyway.

 

Whoa, i just noticed how the logo is both an H and an R. I don't think it's a horrible logo but if the H had been some how more accented so that it didn't just look like an R, the logo would be better. I also think there should've been at least one other image in the logo.
