Couldn't the H just be coincidental?

Personally, I think it is. That's the point I was trying to make but didn't make as well as you did!

Oh, and I agree with Oski. My problem was always with the pinstripes and red splotches on the unis. I thought the rocket with teeth was kind of cool in a WW II pilot/Jetsons sort of way.

But there's definitely more to come. I'm reserving final judgement until September.

But I do think it looks worse -- not better -- on the hat.

I've heard that this is just part of the whole logo. Is there any truth to this?

The "h", "H" is just coincidental. Get over it people. Every R has the lower case "h". As for the capital, some of you are reaching desperately. It does appear that way, but if you put a line across two parrallel lines you will see an "H" every time. You watch two many X-files.

Actually according to the poll on this BBS and the poll on rockets.com a majority of the people like the new logo, so you would actually be agreeing with the minoritys. :p

I showed the new logo to a co-worker of mine this morning when I got to work. He's a Spurs fan from San Antonio. He knew nothing about the Rockets changing their logo/unis. The very first words out of his mouth were: "Ooooh. Que Dracula!" I, of course, immediately told him that it was designed by the chick who created the costumes for the movie Dracula. He couldn't believe it! There's a confirmation from outside our little Clutchcity World. Next I told him about cc.net and this discussion and he wondered why, if Tim is a reader/contributor to this board, did they not run some designs by us. WE are the folks who buy merchandise! "Cool" unis and logos do NOT sell merchandise. Players (Jordan) and Champions (Lakers, Bulls) do. WTF!?
(I'm in Austin, by the way...)

Is our new nearly HOT PINK shade of red the same as that Chinese beer they are selling so much ad space for? Or is it just "Communist Red?"

    Our new communist look....

WOW!! I think it's kool! Sweet 'n' Simple, the way I like it;) ! I like the color, & I can't wait 2 buy the baseball cap & jersey 4 my 1 year old. I think SILVER & RED makes a great combo! Now I can hear the announcer saying " the Rockets RED Glare" once again!!!

On that link, check out the failed logo sketches. The Rockets 95 is hideous. Things could be worse.

well, i made it through the 1st 7 of 17 pages of this thread before i surrendered to posting... enjoy this..it's called perspective..

""if Tim is a reader/contributor to this board, did they not run some designs by us. WE are the folks who buy merchandise! "Cool" unis and logos do NOT sell merchandise. Players (Jordan) and Champions (Lakers, Bulls) do. WTF!?""

WTF is right -- WTF are you talking about.. cool uniforms are the exact things that sell...think about all those titles the lakers won between '88-2000...yeah all those.. yet consistently the top sellers, because the logo is good,so its not always about championships... when you say "WE", im guessing over 35-40 maybe..well, if thats the case, YOU are not the folks who buy merchandise..at least not nearly in the amount that the target demo is aiming for..

look, relax..this logo, as stated plainly earlier, is simple & understated..as for timeless, well, time & titles will help answer that question..

as for it being an Asian character? ((ShallowHal)) cuckoo, cuckoo..where are yall getting that...take a look at the Japanese, Chinese, mandarin, vietnamese language in text not on CCTV9..

as for the blood streaks on the R.. really overplayed, dont really see that at all.. its a rocket blasting off.. perhaps runaway chunks of foam, but not blood..

think of this logo on the left chest of a white/black/grey polo? people will think whats that? looks sharp, mysterious, perhaps even sinister.. and you can say, "yeah, im part of a secret society of ass-kicking H-town ballaz"..we travel to SA, LA, Big-D, kickin-ass all along the way.." circa Rudy-T..

and in 2005, when we're in the western conference finals, & the big bad menacing Red "R" goes on the road, dropping a P.O.D like "BOOM" on the bigstage, we'll sit back in understated, confident, cut-throat h-town style, contemplating "how you like us now"...while the league, dazed thinks, "what just hit us" & "please big R, go eazy"..

allow the logo to make the loudest statement by saying the least..

the big R, is ready to drop..
