Thanks rockHEAD! Maybe one of these days you can run a flash contest instead of a photoshop contest.

The hat is cool. I'd buy that. Sort of like the Astros hat, with just a log, but not as boring.

I think the designer just found either a fortune cookie or an abandoned bottle rocket and just copied the font onto this thing.
How much are we paying Ms. Dracula for this??? Sheeeesh. I swear, creativity of this sort is such an overvalued profession. Better to just leave it to the creative minds of the fans.

Unfortunately, the only way I see this logo working is after all the adjustments we've tried on this board. Otherwise, I seriously hope they either 1.make the color adjustments, 2.make the tilt adj, or 3.scrap it. It looks wayyyy too Asian. And seriously... subliminally, I can't help but feel that we're looking at some product logo for a Chinese rocket. And sure, the China has made some great strides in rocketry of late, but going back to the 70s and 80s, Chinese rockets were, uh... like an explosion waiting to happen.

    :D

This is what the bulk of the"fans" prefer, apparently. Better not to leave it in the fan's hands, I think.

Be honest, not one fan has ever submitted anything remotely close in quality or refinement to the new logo, whether you like it or not. When you get an amateur to do something, well, it's going to look like

Maybe Tim was right when he said it wasn't meant to appear by itself. I really like the hat.

What do you people want? They get rid of the gody, over-the-top logo and the pinstrips and went back to something simple and you still hate. I dare to say that if we never had the original logo and that exact design was brought out today most of the people here would hate it. I love it. Its simple yet kinda cool. Now as long as the jersey is simple and just says Rockets or Houston on top and the number under it I'll be happy.

True. Imagine a number on it, "23, "3" or "34" right next to the logo.

Or a Steve Francis poster with the logo and his number.

I think the stitching on that sample cap doesn't look too good. I think the logo should be a little larger on the hat and should have more of a raised lettering type of feel sorta similar to the Yankees logo. This looks more like embroidery. Overall though the logo is pretty cool though. I think also once the logo is out for a while and other companies start making stuff for the Rockets to sell we'll see some pretty good looking merchandise. This looks to me like something I can buy from the fleamarket.

    1. While I think most of the design improvement suggestions here are terrible, I still have my own design improvement suggestion. Even though I'm sure many won't like it and it's all for nothing anyway (since the logo is irreversible at this point), here it is: instead of the 3-pointed exhaust, have the legs of the R each narrow to a point. I think the look would be neater and more sleek. I also think it would give the R more of the suggestion of a vertical motion. It would be much like Brancusi's Golden Bird. The downside, I suppose would be that it would be less clear that it is supposed to be a rocket, but that doesn't bother me too much.

    2. The Celtics logo that everyone says is so timeless and fantastic -- the leprechaun spinning a basketball -- is a terrible logo. It's as bad as the grinning rocket or the raptor. I think people like it because the Celtics won with it, but it is not a good logo. Or, if it is good, so is the grinning rocket (which in truth wasn't nearly as bad as the uniforms they put it on).

I see the upper case "H" that people are talking about. My question is, Why is the upper case "H" below the upper case "R"? Doesn't make sense ... I think they were just going for the lower case one.

I don't know why people complain so much about the old logo. If having shark teeth painted on their planes was good enough for air force and naval pilots, it should be good enough for our little rocket ship. The way I see it, we had a nice logo and stupid uniforms. Now, we will have good uniforms and a stupid logo.

I keep hearing about how the logo is supposed to represent upward motion, but to me, that damn thing looks like it's hovering.

SageHare6. This is what I was talking about.

I wonder if the Rockets have more to show...
