i think the new logo will catch on. i feel, too, the negative posters will slowly start getting accustomed to it when the uniform comes out. simplicity was the way to go... but i agree with some in that it would look better if those streaks at the bottom weren't there. it looks a little awkward. taking them out would make it bolder and more solid ...then you've got something pretty good here. i also think there's a little too much pink in the red. also, i was at the astros game today and they displayed the new rockets logo on the big screen between innings... the announcer introduced and asked the fans to applaud if they liked it. no one reacted. i thought no one was paying attention... but then when asking fans to react if they didn't like it the whole building erupted in 'boo's.' geez, imagine tim taking all this in... hang in there, brother. the uniforms are what matter... i think it'll stick.
I dunno..that stitching on the hat looks pretty crappy..though I'd have to see the whole hat to get a better feel for it. Plus, I think I'd looke better if it was a red logo on a black hat...not white on read...that white logo on the hat looks utterly lifeless.
Rocketeer, Those look absolutely great!! It's amazing what shadowing does for the logo. It gives it so much more depth and life. It just makes me wonder why they (the org) didn't do that.
I can't remember who did it, but someone called it days ago. He said he heard the logo was an R with 2 rockets coming out of the bottom. And everyone jumped his arse for not being an insider.
Okay, it's grown on me now. Put the red wallpaper on your desktop and tell me that it doesn't look nice. I guess I'll get me one of those hats too. I love it that we are red again. P.S. Thanks for the wallpaper Rocketeer
I shouldn't have to grow accustomed to the damn thing, that very fact alone tells me that it's not working. Again, I tried to make a point about people asking for simplicity, I don't think I articulated it well enough. Yes, people asked for a clean and simple new logo and yes this logo meets the criteria that we asked for, but there is a diffirence between getting what you asked for and getting what you wanted. I used to not be one of the people who wanted to old logo back, but everytime that I see this new thing, I can't help but think about what could have been. This is not a timeless look, it screams 2003. God, I just hope the jerseys kick ass.
I guess the hat give us a clue that when the unis are red the logo will be white? Wish the red were darker.
This logo is soooo.... blah! I can't tell what font this is? It's either some Gothic font saved up from Bram Stoker's Dracula or some Neo-Asian font. Didn't the Japanese designer who worked on this project also work on that old Dracula movie??? They should have paid CRC to consult on this project. The tilt works wonders on an otherwise blah logo. Overall, I think it's a little TOO out there. The clown uniforms are looking pretty sexy right now. theSAGE
Seriously, I Think This Logo is Perfect... ...if the Rockets were in the business of selling CONDOMS! How much more phalic does the logo have to get??? theSAGE
I'm not too impressed by the logo so far, but I'll hold my comments till I see the whole thing. I do think that tilt makes it look a whole lot better.
Yeah, they should just give me the damm logo design job & we can settle the design here on clutchcity.net till the stage where 80% of the posters here are happy... I don't think it will take me more than a hour to get it done, piece cake
the "y" is the R part of it,with the top head of the left rocket being the bottom half of the "lower case y" the "a" is the top loop of the R but upside down is at the bottom of the pic the "o" is the hoop circle going around the r I dont know wether the designer intended their to be a y,a,o, symbols in it in cryptic form, but I think its cool. It can be our (rocket fans) little secret that the rest of the country wont know because people will never think about turning it upside down however,if this logo is on center court in big,the people on the opposite side of the R will notice a lower case y, and a lowercase a and a big O around the y and a
CRC, your mastery of photoshop is absolutely priceless. Had the Rox consulted you first before Ms. Dracula, perhaps, we'd have a more marketable logo on our hands... But one thing I never did get about this whole 'rolling out the new logo' thing is why didn't the designers go straight to the fans to poll their thoughts WHILE this thing was still in the design phase? I mean, taking a poll NOW is rather senseless, given that there's probably a million of these printed hats sitting in inventory somewhere in China. Had they polled even a sampling of the fans, I think they would've gotten a product with low margin of error. Instead, they pick the 'hit or miss' route by being all secretive. The sad thing is that this logo isn't all TOO bad. With a little change here and there, I think it could actually work. But the overall font for the 'Houston Rockets' full logo is just unsightly. here's another scary thought... Red is usually our "away" color with White being our "home color". Imagine the new 'Rockets' logo in red over a white backdrop. Classic Horror Font. We may as well rename our team, "the Houston Bloodsuckers" or something. theSAGE
Rocketeer's wallpaper looks great. One thing though. Are these really new "logos" or are they "monograms?" Because the current uniforms have three things... 1) Uniform 2) Logo w/teeth and basketball with "Rockets" 3) Monogram "H" -- the one you see on hats and on the Compaq Center's floor near the hoops. This new "logo" seems more of a monogram, than a logo. Logo's usually have the team name within it (Rockets!).
I second that. Rocketeer's wallpaper now adorns my computer. Sweet stuff. Thanks Rocketeer! With the metallic shading and all, maybe this could work! In the span of 5 minutes, Rocketeer has made me a believer. A little metal shading here and there and VOILA! No more condom comparisons. DavidS. I think this IS our logo. Kinda like what we see in college hoops where at center court, you'll see the big letter(s), but not the full team name. I think the novelty of this is that the logo IS the monogram and vice versa. So unless the designers have something up their sleeve, like a red leprechaun or our old angry shark of a rocket, I doubt we'll see a separate rocket logo. theSAGE
Because Ms. Dracula is more famous than I am & she got paid big bucks to get the design done (with her dracula style)... Anyway, you can only hope that by the time the Rockets need to design the next logo I'll be famous enough to be in charge of all this....
