Rockets settle on a new logo (Chron)

Uh, oh. I'm starting to Rohrshack this logo. Now it looks like a heron that just speared a fish.

 

I'm surprised by the number of people that don't like it. Maybe I've just been looking at it so long that it has grown on me. Plus the first time I saw it, it was on a jersey.

 

I'm not as thrilled with this one as I was with the last one when it first came out, but I like it cuz it's fresh and interesting nonetheless, and it looks like it could make for some nice unis.

I think I'll like it more with time, plus it looks like just what the doctored ordered for most of the complaints here... people wanted it to be simple...

McDonald's style logo came out in the early 80's

ET was filmed in 1982.

Obviously the designer was a huge Speilberg fan and paid homage to his favorite movie!!

at first glance it looks like a B... I really don't know what to think... I would like to think that this was a 'first draft'... I would REALLY like to see what other designs were turned down before choosing this one.

Actually, I really don't give a flip about the logo... I just want to freakin' win games! I wan't Cat and Mooch to pass the dang ball, I want Ming to get aggressive, I want Cato to live up to his freakin' contract, I want Steve to be happy at the point and dish the ball in to Yao, I want EG to bulk up... I just want a WINNING TEAM!

 

Please tell me that the "R" will not be the only thing on the front of the jersey...

 

It's not too bad. I'm not jumping up and down though. To see it on the new unis will be the real test.

But I want to say thanks to all of those who said not to bring back the championship logo.

 

Garbage. Pure garbage. What the hell does that logo have to do with basketball or Houston? That f*cking logo could've been designed by a 5-year old. That dumbass designer has probably never even seen a basketball game in his life.

Someone please bring me that stupid designer's head on a platter. I swear, if I see him on the street, I will punch him in the face.

 

Good point. But dont you want to be in a decent uni doing it?

Think back to past champions:

Spurs
Lakers
Bulls
Rockets
Pistons
Celtics

All had classy logos and uni's. Not that that has anything to do with winning.

Don't worry, it's just the conceptual stage... nothing refined yet... but u get the idea...

 

I think I know whats going on with the logo. I think the logo that was unveiled today should be compared to that of the yankees following logo:



Now.. im sure in the next months they will unveil another version that will be comparable to the other Yankees logo:



Todays new logo will be on the uni's and the next version will be the main logo that you all crave. If this is the case.. I absolutely love the new logo, and I think the new uni's will be PHAT!!!!!!

 

I like this logo. IMO, it could be a lot better if it has at least 2 colors.

 

No thats not the only thing on the jersey. That's what was wanted.

 

How about a modification, to make the houston (H) more claer, its already DONE.. but just thinking.....

 

point in changin logos or unis is to get people talkin and it worked

 

Here is a nice, simple logo. I have a strong hunch an expensive costume designer from Hollywood wasn't hired to develop this one... btw, they carve the logo into each speaker...
