Whats the smarter decision - Paying a guy whose worth around 10 - 12 mil per 14, 15, 16 on a 3 year deal who is pretty much the glue to the locker room over the past 2 years and the longest tenured Rocket... or Paying a guy who is worth around 7 to 9 million 10 to 12 million who has already been a massive disappointment for this team on a previous contract, and had a major boost in production the season before he hit free agency on what most likely will be his final pay day contract of his career? The Rockets are going to have to overpay either guy regardless. The fact is, Parsons is better for this team, and has a MUCH BETTER track record thus far in his career for consistency. I'm very much afraid that Ariza is experiencing what folks around the league refer to as a "Contract Year". I would rather sign Paul Pierce and/or Mike Miller honestly. Ariza is going to be a huge risk at this stage of his career if he defaults back to the player he was before that contract year.
I would rather overpay CP25 than Ariza. Chemistry & CP25's dribble drive shot creation are too important to lose.
Please no. Signing an older SF to the same type contract while renouncing the TPE and losing the MLE is a cheap and stupid move. That leaves us in worse position than last year.
So why is everyone assuming that getting Ariza means we're not matching Parsons? We needed a wing defender to come ff of the bench didn't we?
I don't think its necessarily, either or. We can both. But what you may mean is that Les isnt paying luxury tax for Ariza/Parsons, where he was willing for Bosh/Parsons.
And you really think Ariza wants to come off the bench?? Good god people can you all use your damn heads.
Smoke screen for who?? The options out there suck right now. Despte all that and knowing how much Morey loves his flexibility, i'd be shocked if he matched Chandler.
Ariza as a complimentary player is BETTER than Parsons for 2 big reasons: 1) He's a better shooter. 2) He's a MUCH better defensive player and rebounder. As an overall basketball player, Parsons is better than Ariza because: 1) He can create his own shot off the dribble. 2) He makes the right pass and good decisions in general. So, if we didn't have James, I would say, yeah, match Parsons. But, we already have two superstars. We need to find compliments. Ariza, in this respect, is better than Parsons.
I'm pretty sure Morey hates Cuban so much right now that he plans to match out of spite. Despte the fact that he will be stuck with a mediocre team, who's ceiling is the second round and no way to really improve. Thanks a lot Chris Bosh........ you big t rex looking mother%$#
