Nene is signing with the Nets, there's no way we can match the 4yr 70 million there currently offering him. With that said, this could open up a trade possibility for Brook Lopez.

Now I know, people aren't high on him because of his low rebounding numbers, but his still a 7'0 center who can give you 20+ points a night, and has the potential (only 23yrs old) to grow into a defensive presence in the NBA.

With that said, once the Nets sign Nene, if I was Morey I would look to offer Martin for Lopez + our own pick and a filler in return.

We would still have Courtney Lee and Terrence Williams at the two.

Nets can't offer Nene 70 million. Thats all but dead now that they are trying to trade for Dwight.

No way we should go with Dalembert. He would hand cuff the team salary cap wise for the future, and the team is not poised to have a signing like his put us over the edge (which is the only time you should let a deal handcuff you salary cap wise).

A better option to fill the gaping oozing disgusting hole we have at center (now that Hayes is gone) is Kamen.

Kamen is perfect. He blocks shots, has a post game, and, most importantly, he only has 1 year left on his deal..

The Clippers just spent a lot of money on Butler and Jordan, so Houston's cap space would be a welcome gift for them.

If we could send them something like Jordan Hill and the future 1st rounder of the Grizz that we got in the Battier trade, then we would 1) have a balanced roster and a competitive team and 2) have flexibility still.

Thanks for the update, Clutch. (BTW, can we call you "Clutch the Human" in order to differentiate you from "Clutch the Bear"? Gets confusing.)

    A few thoughts:

    1. Re: Martin: I am thinking the last thing Morey will do is to make a panic trade simply because Martin may be upset. He may trade Martin still, but won't do it at a big discount just because Martin might not be happy. After all, he didn't immediately dump Aaron Brooks at the start of last season just because Brooks was upset about his contract and was patient with Landry when his agent was making noises. It may or may not work out, but it is Morey's modus operandi.

We want things to be fixed right away, especially after coming so close to completing a big trade, but Morey has to deal with the big picture.

    2. Possible offseason directions:

    a. Baseline case: Sign Sam Dalembert to a reasonable contract. Otherwise go into the season with substantially the same team while waiting for opportunities to show up.

    b. A bit more aggressive baseline case:
Pay a team to take Jonny Flynn's $3.4 million off our hands. Chase Nene (assuming he would still sign here without Gasol already on the roster), then look for other better opportunies.

    c. Explore Sign and Trade for Nene: Denver may not do it since they want Nene for themselves. But if Nene's camp says "Get me to Houston or I'm signing with the Nets," Denver might agree to take, say, Courtney Lee or a draft pick and a couple of the 2009 guys, in return. The Nuggets don't have many guys under contract now and need to get to the league minimum anyway.

    d. Same as b and c, except you chase Marc Gasol with either cap room or in a sign and trade.

    e. Chase a Pau trade again: Probably hard to get done but assuming the Lakers are offering Gasol + Bynum to Orlando and Orlando prefers getting either Scola/Martin or (slightly more likely) a collection of young players (Pats, Morris, Motiejunas, Lee) and draft picks, than Gasol, it is worth pursuing..

It's unlikely and may not happen right away-- thus I think we chase what we can (Nene or Marc Gasol) first.

    f. Fantasy Scenario
: Trade for Dwight Howard. Yeah, that'll work. Right. Move along.

    g. Go insane, turn heel: FU STERN, GILBERT AND CUBAN YOU WON'T LET ME IMPROVE MY TEAM NOW IMMA DUMP EVERYONE IN A FIRE SALE AND GUESS WHAT? IMMA TRADE ALL MY BEST PLAYERS TO MIAMI, NEW YORK OR THE LAKERS! HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT? KYLE LOWRY, PATTERSON, KMART AND SCOLA TO LA FOR LUKE WALTON, RON ARTEST AND TRADE EXCEPTION!!!! GO LAKERS!

I wonder if we could swap Martin for Johnson, Randolph and a pick.
    Then we will offer Hornets
    Lowry+Johnson+Hill+2 picks
    for
    Chris Paul

    1. High character
    2. Elite Athlete
    3. Jumpshot potential
    4. DEFENSE- The guy rebounds/steals/blocks, Shawn Marion(ish).
    5. Intellect on the floor. Low turnovers and always makes the extra pass.
    6. Ridiculous size for a SG.

    Negative

He is a finisher. He can knock down threes, run the wing and dunk with the best of them, but he is not great at creating his own shot right now.

    Defensive stopper/Shot maker...

Potential = (Rich man's Trevor Ariza, without the ego)

I think you try to get someone to absorb Jordan Hill and one other 09er's salary and make a run at Nene.

Daryl Morey has always wanted Anthony Randolph it seems.

The nice thing about Randolph is you can throw him in at C and he will get you 2-4 blocks, 11-12 boards, far more aware and talented than Jordan Hill.

I would take a deal like that in a second.

Hell, throw all Adelman's favorite players at him and see what sticks...

    (Martin, Bud, Lee)

Signing Dalembert to anything more than a MLE type contact would be a big mistake. He split time in Sacramento last year for a reason. He's a 25 min. type of guy.

They need to find a trade for a big man that can play defense and rebound instead of overpaying. I'd much rather have an Asik type of player via trade if we don't have another big move available.

I dont care about post like this because w.e. you guys are dreaming will never happen. Why? as long as David Stern is commisioner the Rockets will never contend, he basically hates our team and city. And stop it with this Chris Kaman crap. I'm still trying to figure out why are we the only team that can't make trades that involved scrubs for Stars. I mean the Nets offer to the Magic were Brook Lopez and 2 picks. In that case why cant we offer Thabeet and our NY pick. FML.

Nice lineup, if it would work under the cap. Love the idea of getting Gerald Wallace. Not sure Portland would do that, though.
