I think the same. Jacobsen has experience and he just has not got enough play time to be cut. Also Tmac like Jacobsen for the Rox so I highly doubt he will be cut. I would rather cut Bowen than Jacobsen.

    Yao/Mutombo
    Battier/JHO/Hayes
    Tmac/Novak/Padgett
    Bonzi/Snyder/Head/Jacobsen
    Alston/Span/JL3

Thats soild roster. We dont need Bowens defense since Battier, Tmac, Bonzi, Snyder, Head n Span can do better job on defense than Bowen can. Atleast Jacobsen n Padget brings shooting to the team.

Also Padget, Jacobsen n JL3 will most likely be on IR and expect Head to got lot of minutes as a SG n PG.

I would not be surprised if sura is on the list. this is his last contract year, he still can not prove he could be back.

Either TMac or Bonzi is going to spend some time injured this year, which means Jacobsen and Padgett should be kept for depth. Bowen doesn't belong on a NBA roster, much less a contender.

As for Sura, as much as we all love him, V-Span is probably as good as Sura would be on a bad knee with a bad back - you're not losing that much.

mm my list of releasing players would go
    bowen, haryasz, padgett, azubuike

i think jacobsen should make the team he hustled last night for the rebounds and drove the lane trying to draw novak's man

Bowen or Azibuke should be cut first instead of Matt.. I think he is a pretty decent NBA 3rd stringer with Juwan howard's shot and can block some shots. He definitely have a chance in the NBA..probably now is just not the time for him

Ryan Bowen will never be cut!!

Ryan Bowen is linked to JVG with an umbilical cord.

I agree, they seem to already have enough shooters. These last few guys arn't gonna play much anyway (probably IR). They might as well have a big man as insurance.

Remember that it is quite possible that we are only keeping 14 players. Sura will count as #15.
19 player on the roster minus Sura and Haryaz = 17players so there would be three more to be cut if everything works out the way JVG wants it to!
Which ones will they be? :p

I know this is late, but I just realized how deep this Rocket team is from last year! Some of these guys that will get cut we would have loved to have last year.

I mean take away that we have two super-allstars in Yao, McGrady. We have signed/traded for Battier and Bonzi. Plus we drafted a guy who should have gone in the first round in Novak.

Management has done an outstanding job this offseason in putting such a good team together. Its now up to coach and players to get it done.

Only if the TEXANS could be so wise .... oh well.

Both Bowen and Sura are under contract, if we want to release/cut them, how to deal with their contracts? Maybe a buyout? Does their salaries still count as the team's salaries? ANyone please explain, thanks!

Sura I would miss (though he hasn't played since...). But please get rid of Bowen. Noone will ever take us seriously with this guy on the roster.

Bowen, Hayes, and Lucas are all minimum contract guys with expiring or guaranteed contract only for this year. If any of these players got cut but were given guaranteed contracts elsewhere their salaries would come off Houston's books.

Sura has qualified for the exception/condition where his contact would not be counted towards rocket's cap if he retired.

    I'm so glad.

I'm sure this has been said already...

But I don't want to be at the bar and accidentally say "Dude... I love Haryasz and Head".

People around here aren't Rocket's fans anyways. I don't need to give them one more reason to look at me funny...

There is no more IR. It's a 15 man roster with 3 inactive players. They don't have to make up injuries any more.

I have to think Bowen is simply not needed any more. We've got Battier who does everything Bowen does, and he knows how to play basketball, too. I think a decision has to be made about Sura. Padgett stays because he knows the system and can spread the floor. It will come down to a battle between Jacobsen and Azubukie (sp?).
