We also can't discount that keeping Dorsey is part of helping Kostas acclimate faster to the NBA given their track record playing together. It could very well be that keeping Dorsey is a chemistry driven choice, despite Mark Cuban saying we don't care about chemistry.

Excited for Black. He is going to exceed expectations. I would have kept Adrien. Guess the Rockets didn't want to eat Dorsey's contract.

Exactly how I feel. knee jerks. We will not have any idea of Dorsey's ceiling for at least 30 days.

those trade deadlines will be that much closer.

I thought we brought Adrien in as part of our new toughness. Adrien could teach TJones and DMo about toughness.

If we get routinely outrebounded again, or Black gets into early foul trouble, we have no veteran depth.

we did, but management didnt think Black would go off like he did. So adrien became expendable.

yeah, but Black is still raw and has not proven he can play vs. regular rotation guys. He is prone to committing a lot of fouls.

I understand the reasoning behind it, but it is risky. We are going to put a lot of trust in TJones, DMo and Dorsey becoming tougher. Adrien would have been my fallback on those nights they aren't.

As I've posted on other threads, I would have cut Garcia.

Of course, the roster could still change. McHale says the roster will not be firm until December. That would take us to the early trade period. We would know by then better if Dorsey and Black can pan out.

I do not agree Adrian was that player. He's OK but to me was a blip that got cut, that is all. Many tweeners out there.

    You can't coach height.

Hopes he lands on his feet--east coast-china-Euro.

    p.s. To posters/:please don't start a thread tracing his career ! lol.

I really don't understand why Morey likes Dorsey so much. Adrien is so much more ready to play right now.

Joey Dorsey was unable to practice for most of the offseason due to foot problems, which affected both his conditioning and overall play during the preseason. While I've lost a little confidence in his ability to play well for this team, I'm reserving judgment until he can work his way into 100% game shape.

Dorsey's contract (signed back in July, long before training camp or the preseason games started) was a product of both overseas production (a 2-3 year sample size of good defensive play against top EuroLeague competition) and leverage (the requirement of a 2-year deal to forgo lucrative overseas offers).

Any guaranteed money for THIS season is nearly irrelevant to the Rockets, who have no real hope of dropping below the salary cap again this year. However, 2015 CAP ROOM is another story. Dorsey (along with Daniels, Canaan and Johnson) have guaranteed salaries for the 2015-16 season, so cutting any of them would have eaten away at the Rockets' cap space next summer, when an increase to the salary cap could provide Houston with a chance at (near) max cap room.

To eat away over $1M of that cap room by cutting Dorsey would have put the Rockets at a competitive disadvantage next summer against many other teams expected to have max or near-max room to sign free agents or make trades for existing contracts.

Any on-court advantage Jeff Adrien had over Joey Dorsey is far outweighed by the need to maximize all opportunities to get that third star player. Period.

Garcia is one of the vet leaders and one of the most respected lockerroom guys in the NBA. If you're going to have someone at the tail end of your rotation who won't play, Garcia is the ideal fit
