yeah so i liked what von did for the rockets during the season but I do not think he is a good fit a marginal talent with a Star ego.

let him walk if he doesnt want the minimum

Sign Von for 2 million per year. No more than that.

I don't think it's fair to just offer him the minimum while I also think we shouldn't offer him anything more than 2.3M/yr.

Actually I can see Denver being dumb enough to pay Von close to the MLE now. If they're losing Dahntay and with JR Smith being a free agent, they'll need some scoring punch

Why do people think JR is a free agent? He is signed through 2011.

He may one day be a star, but right now, he just wants to compete...

After Von's showing this past season, he deserves to be a millionaire/year

But I wouldn't pay more than $1.5 million

Has there been any rumors about what teams are interested in him? His agent might have burned bridges with the Rockets. If there is no other team interested, we could see Von Wafer go international

Von's a poor man's J.R. Smith. If he's going to play in Denver he needs to get tatted up.

    Mehhhhhh.

    Mehhhhhhhhh.

Do you REALLY think Adelman kicked him out of a playoff game simply because he wanted to play? Adelman is a cool dude, Von must have said something very, VERY dumb to get him so ticked...
I think Morey knows what he has (or doesn't have) in Von.

I think Von probably was in his ear all season about playing time because his was inconsistent.

And Adelman had enough, and knew the game was probably over anyway, and used it as a way to make a point to a young player.

I doubt Adelman holds any grudges, and Von learned his lesson.

You can really tell who has management or leadership experience by the way people post about that incident.

    Good leaders move on.....lesson learned......

What evidence is there that Von learned his lesson? Good leaders also know how to minimize their losses.

Von's alright. But signing him to anything more than the minimum looks a lot like what we did with Matt Maloney.

yes he wanted to play..everyone wants to play even brent barry and brian cook, but he went out of his way to let the coach know and showed up the coach in a PLAYOFF game of all things. What has Wafer done to be given that sort of leash? It would be one thing if Ron, Tmac or Yao did that but Von? So yes that is a star ego if you ask me. And then afterwards when Coach said that it was not the first time Von has done that, that is just more than a coincidence.

Saying he just wants to compete as a reason is not good, everyone on the Rockets compete but you do not see them complaining about minutes or anything. Perfect example is Chuck Hayes, he was granted multiple 10 day contracts and then was signed for the rest of the year in 2006 and he never once complained publicly about the lack of minutes even if he just comes in to play 2 minutes he comes in and produces.

Von doesnt do that, he like most scorers needs the ball to be effective and unlike Ron and definitely unlike Tracy Von is one of the biggest black holes I have seen on the Rockets since Kenny Thomas. If von was able to cut and go to the open spots better he would be a better fit for this offense. He came off of the elbow curl pretty well but would always shoot it and it became quite predictable (see: vujacic blocking his shot) and he would spot up for 3s like most of our perimeter players

That alone does not mix at all with Adelman's offensive design. Von tried way too many times to go 1 vs 2 and 3 into the heart of the paint only for it to result in a turnover and or bad shot.

Von reminds me a lot of Kirk Snyder who was playing pretty effective for Van Gundy until he broke his hand against new york and never was able to get a chance to get his spot back once he came back from injury. (Von is a better shooter, Kirk is more athletic, but both are streaky shooters)

I think Von will land somewhere and still be an effective bench player for most teams in the league but for a team that is going to have to rely on ball movement Von will not fit in right. I think his past history with adelman will seal it too. I am sure if adelman had a choice (if white was fully ready or if mcgrady was healthy) he would have put Wafer in the dog house, but he didnt have a choice and just had to play the hand he was dealt.

Wafer's maturity scares me the most, especially for a guy who has bounced around the league so much.

The evidence that Morey and Adelman talked with him and he PLAYED the next game....that evidence.
