I really like Javale Mcgee of Washington on our rosters. The kid has 2 yrs NBA experience with great lifting ability and there is a big clog on center position and the Wizard can use a shooting guard/defender. 9Pts & 8Reb for 27 minutes is not that bad but still in learning stage of his career and i think he will fit right on our team.

All would be an upgrade over Hayes/Hill

Thanks. Here is another question if you don't mind. I know that when trades are made the salaries don't have to be matched perfectly but have to be within a certain percentage or defined value. When the trade is made, does the trade exception start from the first dollar off or after the accepted deviation for all trades already present?

I don't think so but we can use one exception for multiple players. Its the last sentence of Rox-Redemption's post. :)

Agreed, big deal if you can't make a trade either.

The "deviation" of taking back 125% the salary that you send out is actually called the Traded Player Exception. ie, you can go 25% +$100k over the amt of salary coming in.

The TPE as we normally refer to it is when you haven't completed the trade--a "non-simultaneous trade." That is, you have more money to spend from a previous trade.

However, in a "non-simultaneous trade" you don't get the 125% spending range. It must be no more than 100% of the salary from the original trade.

Thus, the TPE value that we read about has no "deviation" in it. It is exactly equal to 100% + $100k of the player we already received minus the salary of who we sent out. Not 125%. And you cannot spend a penny over it.

DPE also doesn not have a deviation.

    Woefully incorrect.

    Hayes is very underated.

DPE can only be used on a single player. Otherwise, it's a pretty good explanation.

    It's a good question.

The answer is yes. But not the other way around.

How about Jordan Hill for Thabeet, using the trade exception. Thabeet makes $4.8 million, Hill makes $2.6 million, so we would need to use a trade exception to do this deal. Using the Yao exemption in the next few days would allow us to save the bigger Ariza exception for this summer. And we could still dump Jeffries to Sacramento at the trade deadline, plus $3 million, and get under the luxury tax.

Clock is ticking on this exception, Morey had to have a possible trade in mind to go through the effort to apply for the exception, unless it just involved filling out a one page application to get it.

I thought Leslie Alexander or DM said the DPE process required paperwork from all of YM's doctors and specialists?

As a fan, I would be disappointed if there is no trade involving the DPE, one or more trades before the trade deadline. "Disappointed" might not even be the correct sentiment.
