Melo = ENTIRE LIFE, Morris = When he was a kid. That was my point and bringing up his HS days just doesn't apply. You just really can't compare chasing high school wings to chasing NBA wings, it's just too different. NBA wings can shoot from 28 feet out and take you off the dribble... the last high school student that was doing that in HS was Durant. I played baseball nearly all my life, and in little league you pretty much play all positions. But if I didn't play SS in college and they move me from 1st to SS in the majors, there is a hell of a learning curve that isn't even worth it even if my 1st base power bat is better than the SS replacement. That's why Jeter kept the SS position and A-Rod moved to 3B. Positions have different responsibilities and at the professional level with directional hitting, a SS can be abused more frequently than a 3B or 1B so your power stays at those positions. Apply it to this situation... He has to know when to help, what distances to keep, when to gamble on passing lanes, when to run to the double, when to crash boards, etc. and that takes time and experience when facing this brand of athletes and on that we agree. If we weren't in the playoff hunt I bet he would be starting because that's the best way to accelerate the process. Look at Derrick Williams PT and he called himself a future superstar lol.
Give him a little end of first and second quarter action please!! ._. (I am a broken record, but I would rather go to a "get to see Marcus night" than a "free t-shirt night" any day)
Melo doesn't even do a decent of job at those tasks. He is a head scratcher for a defensive example for Morris. Former Rocket Battier does all those things and more. He played at SF and PF in college. Battier is a better example of NBA level defense at SF than Melo. He is a guy that knows where to position himself to cut off defenders for the charge, when to double, box out, crash the boards, switch, provide help defense when a defender blows past a teammate.
