I really feel all these "gets sent down to the D-league" / "gets recalled from the D-league" threads can be combined into one. The ways these players are shuttled back and forth on a weekly basis, is it really all that newsworthy? Its not like they're breaking into the rotation just because they're with the team.
i am not sure if clutch can edit the title of this thread so both can stay within this thread. we might be able to make this thread the longest one.
D-Mo and T-Jones yes!!!! I have season tix to the vipers and have seen both of these players do work. There is also Vernon Macklin that is a highlight reel on two feet. Hopefully we keep both players and get rid of Mook and 2pat.
Co-sign. No team in the last decade has won with a stretch 4 in their starting lineup - save for the Mavericks - and Dirk really wasn't playing that type of game. He was killing teams with the mid-range jumper.
The fact that Dmo cannot spread the floor yet with 3-point shooting is probably one of the reasons he has not received playing time yet and the play of the other PF's make it obvious that the Rockets want that skill at the 4. That said, I feel like he should still be getting into games. During the losing streak, there were plenty of chances for him to come in and provide the Rockets with a completely different offensive threat than anything else they have on the court. I don't think stability is the end-all be-all of basketball. For me, this is a valid criticism of McHale. If you're on a losing streak, try something different. I feel like there are players out there in the NBA that can play 15 minutes on every 3rd game. These guys may not be starter-quality, but against certain opponents, they can be deadly. It seems obvious - guys that play on the bench don't have complete skill sets. If they did, they would be starting. Therefore, their nightly matchups may be favorable or unfavorable. Play them accordingly, or throw them into the mix when things are stagnant.
I totally disagree! Guy has good size and while not totally polished on offense he can shoot over both shoulders. He is a very high percentage shooter and also can catch the ball and finish inside
There is no need to send anyone down. And no point to do so since the Vipers don't have a game until Saturday.
He's not a stretch four, but he thinks he is. He's always been a bad 3 point shooter in his whole career. Yet, he's always wanted to stand behind the 3 point line the whole game, and will do exactly that if his coach lets him. He's got the same mentality on offense as a Rasheed Wallace, except that unlike 'Sheed, he's never been a good shooter from long range.
DMO still needs a lot of work. His defense is off and he still doesn't look polished out there. He's good at making a set shot, but that's about it.
