The guy would be a max player if he spoke English and had a left hand.

Its kind of a lot, but when you see amir johnson getting 34mil and darko getting 20mil, scola is a bargain.

This deal looks fair for both sides.

I think they are gonna use part of their MLE to sign Brad Miller.

If so, this is the lineup we are gonna have coming into training camp.

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier/Budinger
    Scola/Patterson/Jeffries
    Yao/Miller/Hayes/Hill

Assuming Yao is 100% like reports are saying, that's a pretty bad ass lineup.

Congratulation to Scola...he deserved that money. We really need him and Lowry back and we got them. Next year is going to be great!! Now we just need to sign Miller or a legit Center and we're set.

Les Alexander must be in love with this team and thinks they really are one 7'6" center away from contending for a title. I happen to disagree but I'm glad he forked out the cash for Lowry and Scola.

Great news! $9mil a year was what most of us predicted. Lowry and Scola back with us this year. Now that's what I'm talking about...

I think we are accumulating assets for the deadline or management really believes we are a Yao away from a championship.

Congrats to both Scola and the Houston Rockets. Very fair deal consiering his impact last year. You cant have enough TEAM players in one team. Rockets have had a very successful off-season IMO

It could be either one. Why does everybody always assume there is a grand plan? There are ideas and hopes and contingencies. Lots and lots of them. I'm sure Morey could do anything from sticking with this exact team (no Brad Miller or anybody else) to blowing up half the roster at the trade deadline to build our own "big three".

It just depends on what becomes available and for what price.

Projected minute distribution as I could see it, unless the younger players really start to establish themselves and start earning more minutes:

    Brooks (26)/Lowry (22)
    Martin (34)/Brooks (8)/Ariza (6)/Taylor (0)
    Ariza (24)/Battier (14)/Budinger (10)
    Scola (34)/Battier (10)/Hayes (4)/Patterson (0)/Jeffries (0)
    Yao(24)/Miller (16)/Hayes (8)/Hill (0)

Not necessarily the case. The organization is viewing these moves as asset stockpiling. There is a bigger haul coming in the near future. This team will make a move by midseason.

That or he thinks they will be out from under Yao next year and be able to fit another key guy into a great supporting cast and be able to go for it.
