It is no biggie. They were out of it last night. I think they were tired from the night before. It was like they were so tired they couldnt' think straight. That was definitely true on the court. They didn't like losing, and were mad about it, and the fatigue just added irritability. People get grumpy when they are tired and things aren't going their way.
What I saw yesterday, they have every reason to be upset with each other! A strong Coach will diffuse this at the next practice/ film session after he goes over all the errors and bad judgements with all of them. This was a game that I was not happy to see!
this happen right after the in bounds play where i think juwan threw in the ball and rafer carelessly let it go aside thinking deke would get it and it was rolling on the floor where its hard for deke to get, jacque vaughn was able to get it and lay it in. rafer didnt try to get the ball even though he was closer to it and then played no defense. i think rafer felt it was juwan's and deke's fault when it was his. thats why jvg pulled rafer so quickly
Hopefully this is Rock-bottom for the Rockets. A disasterour game and a disasterour effort with our weaknesses exploited by the Spurs to perfection. I am not sure even a full-strength Yao could have changed the result.
I doubt that there will be anything to defuse next practice. It is probably already over and done with, with little to know lingering effects. There are arguments at playground basketball games all the time, and by the time the next team takes the court, it is already not a big deal anymore. Just fatigue, bad moods, and losing. There are no real issues here.
Thank you for the nice, insightful comment. Do you mean that he's a morally deficient human being? That his basketball skills are somewhat wanting? That he's a poor teammate? All of the above? If you're criticizing Rafer as a person, back it up.
I could see Rafer arguing with everyone but why on earth would Deke want to get into T-Mac's face for calming everyone down? That doesn't make sense to me especially when the two guys are usually very nice to one another...No one on that bench have any right to yell at T-Mac, absolutely no one. Those other player should feel bad for T-Mac b/c he's the only one that was carrying the offensive load.
From my perspective, Deke was asking Tmac about how his son was doing but because Deke has such an insane voice, Tmac thought Deke wanted to throw down after the game.
TMac was trying to stop the loud noises because he didn't know what everyone was yelling about... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jR-gLDvmwXU"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jR-gLDvmwXU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Dikembe let him know that it was OK to let frustration out.
Not that its a big deal but Rafer couldn't pick it up...he had thrown it in. It was both of their faults, skip shouldn't have thrown it in if he wasn't sure juwon was looking but juwon and deke have to realize that one of them has to stay there to get the inbounds...he can't throw it in to himself.
Just a miscommunication between the players, it happens. I like this though, because you can't get through a whole season without barking at each other and usually things get better once u let it out. Remember last year with Payton going at it with D-Wade they won a ring afterwards..
The Heat guys got mad at each other when they lost a game against the Bulls in the playoffs last year. I'm not suggesting that we are going to win like them but I think they will all be on the same page soon again. Hopefully Yao will make a good comeback quickly.
Calm down. I bet you this happens all the time. It won't affect our chemistry because they all want to win.
I remember that Sam Cassell and Robert Horry were barking at eachother in game 7 of the '94 Finals. It's not that big a deal.
Why do guys keep saying that we're "in a rut" or "running out of steam" right now? Our guys didn't just suddenly lose their mojo that had them winning earlier. Other teams simply figured us out! Just look at last night's game. On the Tracy PnR the Spurs trapped Tracy, basically let the roller go, and played the passing angles to the wings. They knew exacly what we were looking to get out of that play. Without a talented 7'6" target down low, there was no reason for their big men to rush back to the paint. Thus Tracy had to work rediculously hard for a difficult shot or try to force passes that were either well covered, or just not smart (Deke). Another thing they did was when Rafer drove, they let their big guy semi-step up off of Deke or Hayes and rotated no one else to the paint (they played the passing lanes). Predictably, Rafer either tried a horrible pass that got picked off or put up his rediculous floater instead of trying to take the ball to the glass. They also did a variation of this with Luther by chasing him off the three (the results with him were even worse then Rafer). Thus, the Spurs got a lot of transition opportunities that raised their FG%. These are things the Spurs didn't do that last couple of times we played. With their defense coming around lately and them having plenty of time to scout our team without Yao, we were dead in the water from the start. Our team (without Yao) is very easy to guard with proper preparation from a decent defensive team. Now that everyone knows what to expect from us, post-break, we're starting to see that. For our offense to have the unprdictability needed for us to score at high effiency and allow our defense to thrive, we're gonna need the big fella back and in form.
