I would like to hear a Bima view on Memphis and If they will match. Can they afford...? Mike Conley 7 million Zach Randolph 15 million Rudy Gay 15 million Marc Gasol 12 million That brings them up to almost 50 million... Do they match?
They could probably match but apparently their owner is a very cheap guy whos not willing to spend on luxury tax.
Whats the risk? They can just match and Houston is back where they started. Anyone know what Memphis' salary cap situation is IF someone offers the max to Gasol?
If people here were alright with offering Nene 16m, they should be thrilled to get Gasol at max. Young guy for the future at the toughest position to get right now - and already a legit 15 and 10 guy with decent defense. We can build around Marc!
Gasol, a real center is worth the max. Centers are rare. Nene, a PF is not. PF's aren't rare. I hope they don't match. Hoping this is true and that we move Martin to Sota.
Houston's close to signing Marc Gasol to max-contract offer sheet, working a sign-and-trade with Memphis to secure him, league sources say.
As one analyst already said, the Gasol brothers in Houston would make a great story. After conquering the Chinese market, we are now going to break through in Spain. Good move.
Lakers refuse to trade gasol and Bynum for Howard. Maybe we could get in and try to get gasol? unlikely though
Scola + Hill + Flynn + a first round pick for Marc Gasol in a SnT would allow Memphis to save some money while remaining competitive. It would also allow the Rockets to pursue Nene via Thabeet amnesty. Lowry / Dragic Martin / Lee Budinger / Morris Nene / Patterson Gasol /
And Gasol max is not even that high. 12m/per for 26 year old. Sign me on. With centers like Magicarp getting max, maxing Gasol wouldn't be overpaying
No that is my point. It's a win-win for Houston. Either they get a big man (I'd rather max out Gasol than give DeAndre Jordan 10m/yr), or they destroy any flexibility for Memphis for the next 5 years.
