I am not Afro Man. You should be asking some of these Rockets fan that question. I mean 5th in the West? Come on. You have no post players, none, zip, zero. You are a poor mans Dallas Mavericks except you have no ELITE scorers. The Clippers have 2 All Stars. Two double doubles in their lineup. You guys have two players in your top 8 coming off of serious injuries, one is ancient the other hasn't done squat in the NBA. I You guys have one exceptional player in Francis, two pretty good players(Cat and Griffin) and the rest are average or unproven. I think best case scenario is #5 in the West with plenty of upside for future growth. Realistic is a battle for the 7 or 8 spot.

the clippers only have one all-star, not 2. if mobley and francis aren't elite scorers than i know ppg isn't a factor in that decision. memphisx, you just said the best-case scenario for the rox is #5 in the west, so who exactly are you knocking? i'm sure anbody else with that prediction had the same basis.
The Rockets this year can fall anywhere from 5-10 in the seedings in the Western Conference depending on injuries and Ming and Griff. I'd say Francis, if healthy, is a known commodity (20, 7, 7). And Mobley is too (20, 3, 3). If Griff can be a 15-10 guy and Ming can be a 10-10-4 guy within the first month, this team can be a #5. What we need to understand is that Mo Taylor didn't play at ALL last year, and Rice didn't play with these guys so much either. Nachbar has never met these guys, and of course no one knows ANYTHING about Ming. The whole team was ripped apart last year, and we reassembled MANY new parts. This team very well could need a WHOLE YEAR to play together, just to get to KNOW each other! Thankfully, the Ming craze will keep Houston interested and sell out a lot of games for this year, and then next year with the NEW arena the city will be BOOMING... but in that 3rd year... I think thats when we can REALLY make some NOISE. This year I'd say we'll get somewhere around 40-46 wins, next year we'll get around 46-52, and then in 2004-2005, I think we can really make a push for 55-60 games and fight with the Mavs for the Midwest division title. What do ya'll think???
Actually...I'm already a big Texans fan...they'll suck this year..they will have only been here one year...and I'll still love them!

Eddie Griffin has just as much a post game as Pau Gasol. Eddie is even a better shooter. The only things that Pau may have on Eddie are a slight edge in athleticism and the reigns to his team. Kenny Thomas is a very good post player(Althought he drifts to the high post quite often). Who was our injured player that hasn't done squat in the NBA. Mo Taylor? Mo, in his 2nd and 3rd seasons, put up remarkably similar numbers to those of Gasol. Two all-stars?...Who? Brand made it because of an injury to Shaq, and Miller didn't make it...in the EAST. Lamar Odom is coming back just as "suspect" as Mo Taylor and Glen Rice.
Miller is overrated. He was on a terrible team which predicated it's offense on jump shots. The fact that it was a terrible team meant he scored more. And he still didn't score that much. And the fact that the offense was reliant upon jumpers jacked up his assist #'s. The Clippers might be better than Houston, but I'd have been more worried if they'd gotten Davis. Memphis is terrible. Utah will probably not have Marshall. I'm comfortable with our chances.
well, then you have not been following up with the games lately..their young players are best friends on and off the court. they are actually happy been the clippers and they are proud with their hippy red and black uniform..it is not the same clippers two years ago..they are young and exciting and hunger.. they will be in the playoff and they might win a game or two. and for now, they are better than the rocket.
They are no guarantee's that they will make the playoffs, they could have the most talent in the NBA but that doesn't mean that they are the best team.
Rockets will be 5th seed in playoff and could be higher if there are no injuries ...They will be one of the most highlighted teams on all sports talk and vidio centers over the whole country...for there play and not because of the # 1 pick
