So far Yao is leading with Ron closely second. They are both far ahead of others. I think this reflects pretty well on the performances last week. So please give this pole a few weeks before you are SO SURE this is a popularity contest in which Yao will always win.
I vote other. Rafer Alston wasn't an option. People don't realize that his bad shooting was intentional. He's playing so bad that he makes other teams think they can win. When they get over confident, we take it to them. Thanks, Rafer.
Yao has been Phenominal in the 3 games and probably the key to our 3-0 start. Ron Ron's also been good and Brooks has done his role very nicely but im gonna have to give hands down player of the week to Yao MING
hey where's the luther option??!! hehe ok ok...kidding, i know how much hate luther gets around here. anyway i chose Ron Ron cos he's been up to our expectations. Yao on the other hand is what we expected but its good to see the big guy at his best again. hope it continues and hope T-Mac gets back to his best too. he should bring it on against the Celtics, he got something to prove to that rookie who tried to be funny with him in the pre-season game!!
woohoo 1st post its definitely yao for me. not cuz im chinese or he's my favourite player (tmac is), but from what i watched, the rockets actually needed yao to be on the court to do well, whether its first or second unit. cant really say that for the others, maybe besides artest
then put a poll out there to disprove me. people are assuming people here vote rationally and have watched all the Rockets games. wrong. people here just vote for their favorite players and only a few of us actually have watched the games. Yao will win every week in every poll. Sorry to tell you the truth.
Only the few of us that have watched the games? You have to be joking. If "you" watched any of the games, you would clearly know that Yao has been the MVP so far, with Ron and Landry playing great as well.
I can see how some people think it could be landry BUT...... If this was a poll for who did the best with their minutes maybe you could argue Landry and Brooks as well...For me it was Yao! Consistent in all 3 games... really the person we relyed on to get us a basket when we needed one... Yao Ron Mcgrady Landry Brooks Best in amount of minutes Landry Brooks Yao Ron Barry
I think you picked the wrong week to bring this point. Yao actually played quite well this week don't you think? Why not wait until Yao wins a week in which he played poorly to bring up your idea?
You can have the same issues about any poll on this bbs yet I don't see you whining about those. I never assume people vote rationally, a bbs poll is not scientific. The thing is your not really concerned with whether people are voting rationally. Where's your concern for those voting for those voting for Carl Landry or Chuck Hayes? Why are you targeting those voting for Yao? So please spare us from your lecture of voting rationally because you have no proof those voting for any of the players did or didn't watch the games.
Look dude, I'm not saying Yao should win or lose this week, its that he'll win every week in any clutchfan poll if you have his name in it. Let's get this thread started again: Which Rockets player past or present have been loyal to the City of Houston? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=151538 Yao was leading this poll or was close to to the top. Its a poll about the City of Houston. You mean to tell me people think that Yao shows more loyalty to Houston than Hakeem? Dream went to college in Houston, played ball in Houston, and still makes him home and business ventures in Houston. Plus he's synonymous with the City of Houston. How about the people voted for Yao on this 'loyal to the city of Houston' poll. You think they can find Houston in a map of Texas? you think they can tell what is better Treasures or the Men's Club? you think they can tell you which restaurant is the best in the tunnel? where the Galleria is? who the Geto boyz are? what the difference between the Woodlands and Sugarland are? So you have a bunch of people voting about a topic on loyalty to houston, who haven't even seen the city of Houston, except on TV. There's my proof.
I don't need Yao to have a horrible week to prove my point. I've been on this board for along time to see this trend. Yao in 2003 was not an allstar calibur center like he is now. yet he received many more votes that Shaq, who was average 27.5 points vs Yao who averaged 13.5 points that year I probably vote for Yao, but I sure as hell know there aren't as many Rocket fans as Lakers fans or people who thought Yao was better than Shaq.
Look dude, I'm not interested in arguing with you. The poll you reference asked who has been loyal not who has been the most loyal so there was nothing wrong with people voting for Yao because he has been loyal. He could have become a free-agent and gone to the Lakers. You make ridiculous assumptions about people I'm not interested in wasting my time debating. I'm going to follow the lead of my brother and put you on ignore for a while.
Landry has been playing great coming off the bench and his shooting has been very efficient. Scola has been rebounding well and making shots. I know most of y'all will pick one of the big three but Scolandry has been just as important, too.
