This is an ESPN Insider article and I was just wanting to see everyone's opinion on it! By Nick Borges | Jul 18, 2013 8:14 AM The Houston Rockets want to make a major push in the 2014 playoffs after they signed Dwight Howard and general manager Daryl Morey is looking to add two veterans who should hit the free agent market. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets have interest in Mike Miller and Marcus Camby. Miller was amnestied on Tuesday by the Miami Heat and he will be a free agent if a team with cap room doesn't put in a claim by 5 pm eastern on Thursday. Camby was waived in Wednesday after completing a buyout with the Toronto Raptors and he will clear waivers on Friday. Camby and Miller will be offered minimum deals, which is right as both have injury concerns moving forward. The Rockets appear to have a glut of shooting guards and small forwards, so Miller likely won't consider the Rockets. Camby has a home in Houston and that might make the Rockets the frontrunner to sign him.
Camby makes Asik expendable or even moreso. Camby was our best center when we had Dalembert. He is old but 12 -15 minutes a game is all we need from him. I think he can still deliver that. And if he can there is not a major drop off from Asik and then Asik is just too much of a luxury.
The question is can we even get 12-15 MPG from him? The Knicks didnt deem him good enough to beat out fellow oldies Kenyon Martin, Rasheed Wallace and Kurt Thomas for some reason. Maybe he still got it. Maybe not. Not sure we can say for sure right now.
I think Camby is a good spot contributor and a nice presence to have in the locker room/on the road. Min contract is a no risk.
