I just got back from the Play Day and I have to admit that I was very disappointed on how the Rockets personal ran the function tonight. You could only take one picture or one autograph with only one player. They gave out coupons so that you could do this. I thought it was very cheesey. You couldn't even ask a player to sign anything if you saw them walking around. Not only that, you couldn't even take a picture with them. If you did, they had to be walking. The other thing that really ticks me off is the racism that goes go on there at the events. The workers there were just giving out several coupons to their own race when you were only suppose to give one per person. The messed up part was when you saw this and asked the same employee for one as well, they were like "No". I seen several things like this before but tonight it was soo noticeable. I think this is the wrong message to give out. I will give a Chuck Norris thumbs up for Shane Battier. He was really nice...
I went there at 7:30PM and there were two lines for the food. It took about 20 minutes waiting as if we were begging for food. You ask them for a hot dog and a nacho and they say it either one or the other. I get the hot dog, they out of onions. I asked for a coke, they are out and only have water. I was expected something similar to the Christmas party, where they have plenty of decent food but this one was so disappointing. There was nothing else to interest me. A few scrub players. White, Cook and Dorsey.
it was alright. i wanted to shoot on the court more. i'll post pics in a bit. i wished they had more people working the food. if i wanted to go to a clinic, i would have gone to one. let me jack up threes. The power dancers were good, wish there were more. I wish they knew how to control lines and stuff. But it was fun, i had a good time, other than waiting to damn long.
Ugh... Wait in line for up to an hour and when you get up there you get to do either A) something fun, or B) something lame...and it's all random. I was contemplating giving someone in that last group $20 to give me their place in line just so I could get out there and do the free play stuff, but they ended up playing knockout anyway. Blah.
really what do you expect? If they stop for one fan, they have to stop for everybody. Thats why you take advantage of the first 500 to get a pic or autograph. Btw, you should read the ticket, cause it said that on the pass to "kindly not ask the players for photo and/or autograph", so you should have expect it. I don't blame the organization at all for this because it would be a hostile environment with EVERYBODY wanting a picture from EVERY PLAYER. This is my 3rd year going and have had a blast every time. I was able to get a pic with Lowry since I was one of the first 500. Got food, and got some on court time shooting one side with Barry, and the other shooting FTs with Lowry. Yao and Scola came out first with a "rebound" clinic, Artest and Mutumbo came next for their "defense" clinic. I saw Wafer walking around, got to be like inches away from Deke and Artest, saw James White playing ping pong with some kids and he was playfully trash talking every one of them, and saw Dorsey playing Wii boxing with someone. My cousin got an autograph from Chuck Hayes, and not sure who else was there. pic with Lowry will post more in a few, i have to downsize my pics first
rest of the pics, not the greatest ones Yao and Scola Spoiler Artest and Deke Spoiler James White Spoiler
got the james white autograph session, saw dorsey playing ping pong, and yao playing some video games... i split after the autograph, cause as i mentioned to the guys... those lines were like astroworld. an hour wait, for a short ride.
First of all, Yao with a rebound clinic? I love the guy, but WOW. And why is Lowry throwing gang signs?
was wondering where u went, should've stayed for more hot dogs/nachos as we cleaned them since we wanted to wait out the traffic when it ended we were deucing the "V" for Villanova
