Extend that contract for life!! If Morey is not executive of the year, I call rigged. This guy is just unbelievable, able to shed salary the way he does and still getting some good players and expiring contracts + draft picks that do not hurt future cap space. Oh boy, Houston is becoming red hot.
And Morey has yet to pull off such a trade for a LMA/Love or Dwight. He tried to trade a bunch of assets for Pau Gasol, and fortunately got struck down by Stern. That would have been the biggest trade of his career .... a disaster. Now Morey's greatest achievement is getting Harden. Which is huge, but not a defining moment that makes the team a contender, like signing a Lebron, Garnett, Shaq has done for their championship teams.
The Pau trade is not even in the same league as the trade he pulled off for Harden. All of your examples already had another star on that team. Miami had Wade (This goes for Shaq and Lebron), Lakers had Kobe, and Boston had the truth. Now that we do have Harden, it makes adding that 2cd piece to put us in contender status easier. But you have your opinion on Morey and no one can change that.
