THIS. Detroit wanted him and can guarantee you their back experts saw something the rockets back experts saw, they wouldn't take a risk on him. He's probable damaged goods here on out.

Marcus Thornton is a chucker. Not sure why anyone cares whether he gets playing time.

Also the Sixers let go of Sampson to get Joel Anthony & the 2nd rounder that came along with the deal.

Now they just let go of one of their young players who signed with another team already for nothing.

    Nothing?

Pistons got a look at D-Mo, maybe they didn't like what they saw so they passed...for now.

They can come back in FA. Rockets still have the right to match, if they wish.

But they got a look at him.

Their team is in a free fall.
    2-8 in their last 10
    Lost 5 in a row
    Play Cleveland tonight
Sit 2.5(?) games out of the 8th seed

At least it wasn't voided for basketball reasons.

Sigh, just the absolute worst case scenario.

Well, now we can just shut down DMo entirely, sign him cheap, then submit a medical exception next year for a replacement player claiming our physical says so.

Because he's one of our very few players who can shoot worth a damn. A shooter that is a chucker is extremely dangerous when in rhythm.

Certain posters are never going to believe he has a legitimate back issue -- that just is what it is.

"It's just sore, it's super minor!"
"He's faking it so they can showcase TJ."
"They asked him to fake it so teams won't try to trade for him."
"There's nothing really wrong with his back. SVG just wants his pick back, so the doctors are making it up!"

A ton of people really came together this season and colluded on behalf of a role player who hasn't played significant minutes in a year. Impressive.

I really really feel bad for him.
Shock of first trade, and then the trade voided and have to come back to the team that sent him away...all this in his contract year.
Hellish scenario for him and his agent. And all this hard work he had to do to rehab.

I think this makes this the first trade deadline under Morey where we ended up not doing anything.

when you have no idea when that happens, that's not worth much nor is it any good.

He was. I get the feeling he was the cause of the chemistry issues we've had this year. Thornton reminds me of the guy in the pick up game who delusionally thinks he is way better then everybody else so he should get all the shots.

seems like BS that this can get voided and leave us without the possibility of re-exploring trades, at least for thornton.

they traded for an injured player. there was no hidden risk.

Has there ever been anything revealed about his back beyond "it hurts"?
