i would love marc gasol, but i dont know what he can offer the grizzlies except Landry. i dont think they'd take Brooks since they already have Conley, and they just traded Lowry away in order to develop Conley. the only player Memphis would want is either Landry or Scola and we'd have to trade both for them to give us Gasol.
I agree about us having little to offer memphis without giving up the man no one wants to see leave -- Scola. Thats why I fully expect a 3rd team to be involved and to beat a dead horse, Suns and Blazers.
Not if it's a sign and trade...they can match offer and do a s&t to any team...but if it's not S&t then have to wait till December 15
Actually it works better in this situation for gortat...because his actual salary is 5.6 mil or so but because of the byc his trade value is only 2.8 so we could trade chuck Hayes and the sakarya would work. This gives magic a back up c/pf for cheap saves them on the luxury tax...this is a really good way for them to fill in the roster spots with minimal contracts.
How about Tmac to Chicago for Brad Miller, Jerome James and Tim Thomas. Everyone is expiring. James/Thomas are throwaways and we would have Miller's bird rights.
Oh, that would be so cool. We'd get the center we need, at an excellent price, and stick it to Dallas at the same time.
With Gortat, it's not possible. He is either in Dallas or Orlando. And if Orlando matches, can't be traded until Dec 12th. That said, the Bulls are looking to shed salary for cap room for 2010. The Rockets could instead ask for Salmons instead of Tim Thomas. He has 2 years. That way the Rockets get another asset in Salmons at a cheap price.
If Dallas gets Gortat, then it could open the possibility of a sign & trade with Dallas for Ryan Hollins (RFA). I know they're trying to move Dampier, but he's got 2 years @ ~$23+ million left on his contract. Given his age (34), performance, & remaining contract, I find it hard to believe that they'll be able to move him this year. Hollins seems to fit what Morey is looking for in that he's just 24 years old, very athletic, & is just starting to come into his own. The only real questions are, will Dallas trade him & what will it cost? Dallas is already showing ~$69.7 million on the books & that doesn't include Marion & Gortat's salaries. Assuming Marion's getting ~$5 million & Gortat's getting the full MLE ($5.8 million), that brings the Mavericks cap to ~$80+ million. I know Cuban has had no qualms about paying the LT in the past, but that's starting to get ridiculous.
No, they can't. The NBA ruled on this years ago -- when Marc Jackson signed an offer sheet with the Rockets. Golden State wanted to see if they could work out a sign and trade with us, but the NBA said they could not. They then decided to simply match. I get very frustrated when people attempt to disseminate bad CBA information.
Given their age, production and contract, I would give up scola for gasol in a heartbeat. Production is pretty close in every aspect, gasol is 4 yrs younger and have a extra yr on his contract. Not to mention, he plays center which is a harder position to fill. Then they could sign mbenga for vet min, wilcox for 2.5m and give offer von 2m.
Can we S&T Von Wafer for a Center? Like say, Sign Wafer for 3M a year for 3 years with part of the MLE and trade him to Memphis for Gasol, then in a separate trade send Dorsey there (I don't think we'd have to take anything back) as a cheaper replacement to get Gasol's backup minutes. Wafer Dorsey for Gasol We don't give up any core players. We stay young, and get a legit 7 footer... Memphis gets two good young players at a reasonable price tag.
Alright leebig, I completely understand your reasoning for being willing to give scola for gasol, but then you want to add D.J. Mbenga in the mix? seriously?
OKC signed Harden, Mullens, and Ibaka. Westbrook, Watson, Atkins Harden, Sefolosha, Weaver Durant, Wilkins, Livingston Green, White, Ibaka Krstic, Mullens, Collison Ibaka plays both PF & C. If OKC decide to give their younger players more game time it could leave Collison on the outer. McGrady → Collison + Sefolosha + Watson + Atkins (non-guaranteed) Westbrook, Livingston Harden, Weaver, McGrady Durant, Wilkins Green, White, Ibaka Krstic, Mullens Brooks, Lowry, Watson Ariza, Sefolosha, Taylor Battier, Barry, Budinger Scola, Landry, Dorsey Collison, Hayes, Yao
