    My understanding is Dame doesn’t have a no-trade clause.

    The Rockets are not going to trade for a player that will attempt a hold out or is not completely bought into what the team is doing.

    I don't think it's as bad as you might think ..... Dame is a legit MVP candidate. If the only thing going out the door is Wall & picks you have a solid roster with ways to improve immediately.

    For me it would depend upon how many & what picks we're talking about.

    You guy's say "wrong direction" ....

    Let me ask you one question -


    What's the first ingredient required for a championship contender ?

    The answer to that is having a perennial MVP candidate which Dame is.


    Getting Dame is a step in the right direction. The question is if you have enough assets left to finish the job or not.


    Lillard is an MVP caliber player .... draft picks are lottery tickets.

    Agreed if he was a young player or being added to a team with established all-stars already. You don't rebuild with an aging player and hope to contend in 2 to 3 years as just when your team gets going he's up for a contract and can bolt. Then you wasted everything to get that player.

    It's just not the right season to gamble on building a win now team. Are we keeping Wall and EGO for 2021 or having to overpay to move them and take back smaller contracts?

    If rebuilding ASAP is your goal, then the prudent thing is to start when Wall becomes a massive expiring contract.

    It would really come down to what you gave up .... Its possible you can keep all the picks in this draft and just give them the Nets picks / swaps along with Wall. Or 23/24 and some combination of the Nets picks / swaps & Wall.

    In that case it's NOT a 2-3 year wait before this team , adding Dame , I think it's an instant contender -

    You have a superstar in Lillard , two quality wing defenders and two quality big men & two potential stars in Green / KPJ.. That's a roster he never had in Portland.

    Tate
    Martin jr.
    KPJ
    Khyri Thomas
    Augustin

    You still have Bradley , House & EG to make moves with & the Full NT-MLE to reel in another good player and they'd still have a ton of draft picks to make additional moves.
