Wow, look at the discourse in this thread. The boycotting worked. Bravo, nba players your game may be rigged but you’re making a difference.
And? How can three officers not subdue one man with shooting him? Its pathetic and inexcusable. Yup. Conservatives dont want to stop their hundreds of years of oppression. If things have to get violent so be it. Also recognize the WORLD is not going to side with the right. Take a look at this country from when Kaepernick first knelt to now. More and more white people are realizing its wrong and will fight for change. If you know history at all you should know this will not stand. Its really inevitable it will all come crumbling down. Change is the only constant.
Um, no. My point is you can't admit that the officer was quite likely appropriate in his actions. He had a knife, was told to stand down MULTIPLE times, was tasered, etc. All this could easily be avoided but that doesn't fit your narrative.
You ever heard the term "innocent until proven guilty"? Because "err on the side of the criminal" is literally exactly what that phrase, foundational to America's existence, means. That is unless the judge and jury is a cop... Then the phrase over the past half century is "innocent until you kill them".
So why did the cop not try and stop him from opening the car since he all ready told them he had a knife? Why did the other cops not shoot since the officers actions where appropriate? You said he was armed he was not the knife was in the car, talk about having a narrative.
Isn't this sentiment the whole issue being protested in the first place? It's really easy to stand up for something until you look in the mirror and find yourself the culprit.
Keep his cool, act in a thoughtful manner, don’t empty your clip into the man until there’s an Eminent danger to your life or others. There were at least 3 cops on the scene, tackle him, taser him again, last resort aim to disable not to kill. Fact is these guys get paid, very highly in some areas, to resolve the situation without gratuitous violence. To me, if he thought there was no other option but to use his firearm, why hold him by the shirt while his back is turned and shoot him 7 times in the back? Why not hit him with one shot to the leg and reevaluate? Like I said I think he was panicked as well and we can’t have a bunch cops running around killing innocent, until proven otherwise, black men because they’re too green(or worse) to handle these situations rationally. He signed up for this, his superiors enabled this, and there needs to be accountability.
I see the "He was no angel." crowd is getting their 2 cents in. Cant we just say he had a "troubled past" and then bring him in unharmed. Maybe "mental illness"?
"People like you..." I guess you know me now. Should I be condemned on the internet and sentenced to internet prison for disagreeing with your opinions. Dude I'm ****ing pissed about today for a number of reasons. Your self-righteous, you-know-better schtick is tiring already. POLICE BRUTALITY IS ****ING AWFUL. TODAY IS AWFUL. NO BASKETBALL IS AWFUL. ALL OF THIS SUCKS. Way to stereotype another man's entire character from a few rants about how all of this ****ing sucks. Geezus Khrist.
The liberals and independents in this thread should note what the person above is saying, for posterity. I hope all sides recognize the danger here. You are doing more to defeat your own cause than you realize. Nobody sensible wants what you are advocating - open war in their neighborhood. And you are mistaken if you think the world cares one bit about any of this, or that they will believe your cause virtuous. They will act in their own interests, regardless of what you believe to be “good”.
attention to all the people who are acting like what the players are doing won’t change anything they are the catalyst, and if this really spreads, then it could really have a big effect
That the nba has led the charge for what they did Today and are impacting the world. Yep. Especially when people think this does nothing
