How do we know he was armed with a knife? This is the official report https://wkow.com/2020/08/26/investi...ot-jacob-blake-knife-found-in-blakes-vehicle/ Blake was leaning into his vehicle where investigators say they later found a knife. Blake told authorities during the investigation that he had a knife in his vehicle, DOJ said.
Exactly. Who does he think he’s trying to fool with that BS? Also, it’s funny he’d have us believe that all these alleged ex-players he knows wouldn’t be doing the same thing if they were in this current position and climate.
My God, listen to yourself. Had a weapon- who cares? Put his penis in a 14 year old girl- so what? Any excuse for this piece of human garbage.
It's simple economics...obviously something that is escaping you. The days of Obamanomics are gone...you know, you buy 2 hot dogs, I buy none and we share. You think the greatest country on earth has a slave mentality ? Hey, if you think you have a better deal somewhere else don't let the door hit you on your way out.Take Cher's ass with you.
They are more open to that conversation than ever. But this got turned into a conversation about race, so it devolved in a predictable fashion. I’m surrounded by conservatives. They will talk about it. And the RNC is no more a good representation of conservative thought than the DNC is of liberal thought.
Actually we don't know that. We know he was unarmed and was entering his vehicle, in which his three children, ages 3, ,5 and 8 were waiting for him, when Police assumed the worst and shot him 7 times in the back. I understand that at times it's probably reasonable to err on the side of caution to ensure the safety of the officers involved; but erring on the side of caution is not unloading 7 shots into an unarmed man's back. They could have tackled him. They could have tasered him. But, as per usual, they just went straight to shooting. And not just once. I'm sure a single shot could have stopped him. But they unloaded six more shots in his back. It's not justifiable. There is no justifying it. I can't believe anyone is trying. And p.s. there was no weapon in his vehicle; just his three children. https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/26/us/jacob-blake-kenosha-wisconsin-shooting-wednesday/index.html
Again, continue to assume things about me you couldn't possibly know from a few posts on the internet related to me being pissed about the way today went. But if I am to reflect upon my responses to your posts, I guess if I am being honest, I am just lashing out because of pure frustration that this is where we are as a society. That a simple, yet so complex and rewarding pleasure I take for granted like professional sports is being put on hold today bc of the way things are in this country... Yeah, it ****ing sucks, and I ****ing hate it. And then I'm glossing thru a long thread and I see a comment about "fans" in my admittedly annoyed, belligerent, abrasive state go **** themselves and I am going to respond. To bring it back full circle, when referencing and defending fans let me make this point loud and clear so there are no misunderstandings: I personally feel that it's ironic, ridiculous, outrageous, and over the top that NBA players are essentially punishing us (of which I believe a large majority are the choir in this situation) by boycotting these games. I think those things because without the fans this platform, the billions, the intrigue...all this wouldn't exist. I also find it especially ironic bc of the sleazy politician style comments some large name NBA players make about how the fans are so important, they wouldn't play if there were no fans (pre-COVID), etc. Like c'mon Lebron anyone with a brain can see right through that nonsense. So because of that, I suppose that's why I mentioned fans in a general sense in the way I responded to some posts. For me personally, and if you read my original post in this thread I hope you would understand, I don't care what happens, what the players do or support. I'm not going anywhere. I love my Houston sports and LSU as much as anything, but I really hope and pray this doesn't turn into a week-long, month-long, cancelled-season butterfly effect. And I get the players don't have to care about being mine (or anyone else's escape), but I don't turn on Avengers to hear an hour long prologue about how genocide is currently happening in Myanmar. My clients don't pay me to discuss my opinions on the Catholic church... I just wish I could come home from a long day at work, dealing with multiple personal/family issues, my son being sick since last night, fever cyclically spiking, and me now slightly concerned about it being covid, dealing with a numb lower body due to congenital spinal stenosis and a horrific L4-L5 disc herniation, and just sit down, pour myself a drink, and watch my mother****ing Rockets play a basketball game. And that's all man.
Olive branch...I'm fired up by this, clearly you are too. Shinebox comment was out of line. Let's agree to disagree and move one. Cool?
Again, whether you are right or wrong is irrelevant. If you take that tone of argument with a conservative, then you won’t make any of the progress you supposedly want. And if you believe they are literally nazis and slavery-defenders, then you just want an us versus them game, which they will be more than willing to play.
Evidently you care if he had a weapon since you falsely claimed that he was armed with a knife. @finsraider You want to tell how I should have discussion with this guy?
It doesn’t matter if he’s good or bad, wrong or right, that’s for the courts to decide, not the officers on scene. The bottom line is that they shot this guy SEVEN times in the BACK. If someone breaks in to your house, steals your **** and as they’re running away you shoot them in the back you can bet your ass you’re going to be prosecuted. Why aren’t police held to the same standard? Knife or not there were many other options available to them besides shooting the dude 7 times in the back. To me it looks like everyone involved was in a panic and the officer acted out of fear. These guys are supposed to be trained and prepared to react rationally to these types of situations. They don’t get to decide who lives or dies until every other option to apprehend has been exhausted.
And you are basing this on what? Have you seen the D&D? Who are these conservatives I should be talking to are the people you are surrounded by posters here?
Won't name names, but I'm entirely truthful. Believing it is up to you. I'm not a 20-something and I've done well in my life. The guy I know are my age and probably have a different perspective than today's players. Sorry to butt in, but you're clearly referring to me.
It's not a knee jerk when we've seen it happen hundreds of times before. The problem is that you need far too much evidence to convict a cop. FAR more than you need to convict a civilian. Don't it twisted, there are two separate, if overlapping, issues here, and they are not to be conflated: American law enforcement. There's a complete lack of accountability for police in America, and it's ridiculous. Police should be held MORE accountable for violence against civilians than anyone else, not less. Not to mention other issues like training and police unions and their weird fraternity bond. Systemic racism in America. The deep seeded problem that far too many people want to deny exists. #2 is getting the most attention (at least outside of this thread), as well it should, but the are different issues. Still, with regards to #1, I just don't understand WHY people like you want to continue to give cops the benefit of the doubt? What have they done to earn that? If they deserved it even the majority of the time, their unions wouldn't be so resistant to things meant to combat their brutality, like body cams and investigations. There is new evidence every day about how little accountability these guys have, and how little they deserve our trust. Black people have been trying to get our attention on this matter for decades, and finally more of us who were complacent are starting to understand. Some of us, like yourself, continue to want to ignore these problems, but I believe you'll get there. So yeah, f*ck da police as they stand.
Well I dont really care. Change is coming whether conservatives want it or not. The question is how violent do you want it to be.
