It can't be just one game. That ultimately solves nothing. At least a week of no basketball to really drive the point home, if not more. But idk who knows what the players themselves have in mind.
If they really want to change, they prolly have to go through all police precincts and go protesting for no guns. This is just too little. I get the sentiment though.
I'm as woke as the next person and fully support BLM, but I don't see how boycotting an NBA game will affect cops. If they want to make a difference they should donate their game checks to social justice causes. Because money talks and bullsh!t walks.
Wow. That's not something I expected. In fact, like most of you I planned my whole day around this game and was just settling in for the night, but it's past time for change on that front, so I'm more than good with this. Props to the NBA and to Russ and CP3, who I'm sure both played a big hand in this.
I respect the players decision. Also, as others have mentioned, the extra rest for Russ and our overworked team of players can only be beneficial versus whatever OKC players get out of it, with perhaps the exception of CP3. I was hyped up for the game but the benefits for the Rockets are too great not to be happy about them, plus they get to protest in unity. I don't think cops or many of the Trump supporters really care for the NBA (unlike NFL or MLB) so not much change there, but it's something.
People talking about this is extra rest for WB. it's not gonna matter when the playoffs are going to be canceled completely at this point WB doesn't give af about the game. he's one of the main players that have been very much involved in the politics from day 1
This is an interesting situation. The bubble is costing the NBA a ton of money to run, how long can teams boycott games until the NBA calls it a wrap and closes down? And when talking about next season - what next season? This pandemic isn't going anywhere, another bubble would have to be made.
