I second that. the second lineup of Miller, Francis, Posey, Brand, and MIng would definitely get us the 4th seed. Why do people think Odom is sooo great? He's not that good. I'd much rather have Miller. I'm glad his stock has gone down somewhat after this season...better chance of the Rox picking him up. He he can have the kind of season he had two years ago, then that is exactly what the Rockets need. His numbers wouldn't be the same bcause the overall talent and team balance would be waaaay better than the Cavs had that year. But with a guy running the point with a knack for the position like Miller, I can only see positives for the Rox.

Lets leave Miller out of this, (I would rather have Moochie at the point) the idea of Brand and either Miller or Odom is twice as ludicrous as Brand alone so lets focus.

The ball is still in the court until a contract is signed and not matched. Brand has to sign a contract with Utah and the Clippers not match it.

    Conversation:

Brand to Sterling: I don't want to play in Utah but they are offering me the Max what can we do?

Sterling to Brand: If you sign with them I will match it and you are stuck here and I'm stuck paying you, I'm sure we can find a better solution than that.

Brand to Sterling: You know there are a couple of teams out there that I would like to play for that might have some assets that you would be more comfortable with.

At this point the bidding begins, I don't know if we can be the winning bidder but there is a possibility. In any case its the teams with cap space that allow for this possibility but any hope the Rockets have will probably end if Brand waits till next season when he is unrestricted. Brand hopefully wants out of LAC bad enough that one more season is too much.

Basically we have two things going for us this season.

    1. Brand would like some control over where he ends up and I don't think he wants it to be with the Clippers.
    2. Sterling doesn't want to be left with nothing.

    Plausible scenario.

Why can't we find out anything about what Brand is interested in doing? Why haven't we heard anything about teams he is interested in?

I think it is because he is keeping it tight, trying his best to get the cards going his way. Don't know whether he's interested in the Rockets or not, but I think he is definitely interested in 2 things:

    1) getting as much guaranteed money as he can

    2) getting out of LA and to a winner

If he was not interested in leaving LA, I think we would have already heard some real rumors about teams putting big offers on the table and him saying that he would sign an offer sheet because it wouldn't matter to him if he stayed in LA as long as he got the big $$. Just leads me to believe something is going on behind the scenes and he has a definite idea of where he wants to end up. I think the Rockets are gonna see how it plays out with him.

By the way, where are all these legit deals that are better than the Rox that Sterling would do? Other high priced talent, locked up for 5+ years? Do you really think that Sterling wants to take back monster contracts that tie his hands for any period of time? I think that is crazy. Donald Sterling wants to make money first and foremost. If he can put some players on the floor that the fans will come see because of their POTENTIAL, and pay them cheap on rookie contracts, and then move them in the offseason, and repeat the process every year with new faces of POTENTIAL, and keep his payroll down.........he makes money. And he keeps rolling the dice that he will come up with a playoff team eventually that attracts more interest. Who wouldn't have bet that at the beginning of last season that the Clips had a legit chance for the playoffs with the talent on their roster? No experience but loads of talent and POTENTIAL. I wouldn't have wanted to bet against them, until about a month into the season when it all started hitting the fan out there and Kandiman's words came true, that players with no future as a team will play selfishly. Once we saw that, it was over.

It's the same game every year with Donald Sterling. Dude wants 12 rookies and 12 first round draft choices, that he can just trade out every year. The Rockets are gonna see if they can spring one of those players before or if they do anything else major.

YOU WANT MOOCHIE AT THE POINT??????????????????

You aren't satisified with the other team's guards lighting us up every night for 20, you want them to score 40?????????

No... I am just not impressed with Miller, I think he would become another overpaid untradable player if we get him. I really don't think we need him anyway, even if he was as good as some seem to think.

I like A. Williams from Toronto and Arenas or maybe Payton playing guard with Steve. Other than those guys I would just stick with Steve playing point, he really is still learning the game and hasn't had a constistant team around him for an entire season until last season (it you can call last season consistant). I really think that we just need a tall defensive minded guard that likes to get others involved in the offense to play with Steve and whoever brings the ball up the court is the "point" but they are really just guards playing ball.

Well, I agree with you there. If we are gonna trade out Miller and Cat, then we have to get significantly stronger defensively at some other position.

To me, Miller and Tinsley are the same player, great distributors, little else. And I agree that if we trade out Cat we gotta get a tall, defensive minded guard who can get the ball to Steve. But who is that? Crawford? Payton? I don't see this team going anywhere if we get two smallish guards. Steve can't stop point guards now. He sure isn't going to be able to stop big guards. But I think Steve has enough ability that if he dedicated himself to playing defense that he could shut down a lot of 1's. He has the size, the strength, and is quicker than most of them, he could do a lot better defensively on the point guards...............if he decides he wants to.
