It varies from location to location. It all depends on how much money is coming in at a certain location. If some books are heavy on Laker money, they might keep the Rockets at that number to get some more action to offset the Laker money. Some books probably have very little money on the Rockets and are probably waiting for someone to hit it and then move it. I'm also sure that in the back of a lot of line movers minds AND people on this board, is the fact that the Rockets still haven't made it out of the first round.
Why the disbelief? We are talking about a Rockets team that has not existed the first round in I can't even remember how long now and are always battling injuries to their starters. Most moves they have made recently has turned out bad so far (Francis, Wells, Swift, etc.). Artest is an unknown coming into this season. Etc. etc. Do I believe in this team, of course. I can also understand why other people would be a little hesitant to start proclaiming the Rockets as the next champ already.
Sportsbook currently has the Rockets at 15-1. Teams ahead of us: Boston Detroit Los Angeles New Orleans (tied with us) Phoenix (tied with us) San Antonio I'll go ahead and put $50 on them now...and probably more later. Guaranteed money.
I wouldn't be completely shocked to see the Hawks get to the Finals. They would never win but the East is weak. Boston's Big Three might get old real fast considering they are all on the bad side of 30. Detroit is falling apart. Cleveland is a Lebron ankle sprain from being a horrible team and I don't buy Orlando as a legit team for one second.
Was at the California Hotel in downtown LV this past weekend... The Cal had the Rockets and Spers at 8/1 Celtics 9/2 Lakers 3/1 Other hate-ables Jazz 15/1 Glad to see the oddsmakers at The Cal know where it's at!
went last week, most of the casinos were 15/1 rockets, the weirdest bet was Caesers, apparently they own somewhat of the Celtics, so you can't bet on them, so if the situation happen like it did this year, and you bet the Lakers, you won no matter if the Lakers won it or not.
considering that the probabibility of one of our main guys getting injured is pretty high based on historical date - it's really not that surprising.
You have to pay the $1600. But my bookie will give you a deal if you pay in advance. Let me know if you are interested.
Thank God you asked us on here and not at the casino, because depending on the sportsbook, they would be talking about you for a while. Whenever you bet "off the board" (any bet that's not a parlay card) you get your money back IF you win. So if/when the Rockets won you would get whatever odds you bought them at (16/1) plus your money back ($1700). When you bet on regular games with point spreads football/basketball. Every bet regardless of the point spread will cost you $11 to win $10 or any increment of that amount ($110 to win $100 or $165 to win $150). Sometimes it changes but the change will be next to the spread. One thing though, just remember if your odds are more than 300 to 1 and you win, you have to pay taxes. So any of you betting on the T'wolves might want to take that into account.
I was in vegas last week and I went to the MGM Grand sports book and put down $70 on the rockets to win it all at 15:1 and I cant wait to go back next summer to collect my cool grand : )
Those are great odds. put a couple of hundred bucks asnd you'll get thousends back. phoenix and cavs have no business being infront off us. it should be Lakers Houston Hornets
