Rockets only have $18.8 mil guaranteed salary for 2011. There is only Ariza and Martin.

I believe they have to trade Beasley to be able to acquire all three....

No, they can't. Please check out Larry Coon or read the CBA. They can max out at the salary cap, so that leaves them with 2 max free agents.

how does it work for picking up those team options, ie. hill/taylor/budinger? we have to do it before the start of this season's opener?

Bosh isn't worth the max,he wants 6yrs,not 5. That means more money and giving up more players for him.

Well, I am NO Capologist but all I have read is that for the Heat to be able to acquire their 3 headed monster they need to make an uneven deal to get rid of Beasley contract. This is the reason they tried to shop him like crazy earlier in the week but found no suitors.

You must have missed that quoted passage from Larry Coon.

Include the salary from the contract option in the total.

    I did miss that, thanks...

I think in the end it won't matter much, looks as if the Heat may end up with 0 max dollar guys.

Rudy Gay got 5 yrs,81.6 M(16M plus a yr),Amare allegedly is going to be getting 5 yrs 100M.That leaves Bosh and he wants a 6th year. 20M plus for him. Luis won't get more than 8-10 M,Ariza is 5.8M,that won't add up. Adding Jeffries or Battier will help, but Bosh isn't worth the max IMO.

yr 1 is when it needs to match, that's around 17m, ariza is 6ish, luis will be up around 8-9, which would be enough for the 25%+100k

They do on Jordan Hill, but not on Chase or Jermaine. That rule only applies to first round picks.

There are no other committed salaries besides Ariza and Martin. You give up Ariza and Scola, but get Bosh back. Add $17.9 mil.
Here are the numbers for your scenario.

    $18.2 m Bosh(estimate based on 10% raise of 16,568,908)
    $12.0 m Martin
    $4.00 m Lowry
    $2.9 mil Hill
    $0.9 mil Budinger
    $0.9 mil Taylor

$38.9 mil, The current salary cap is $56.1 for this year.
    $56.1 mil-$38.9 mil= $ 17.2 mil

If the projected salary cap goes up by $1-2 mil, it leaves $18.2-$19.2 mil. Carmelo's max would be 105% of previous salary. $17.2 mil x 1.05= $18.1 mil.

It's good for 1 year. In 2011, Yao counts for nothing if he is not extended.
