No way Lowry starts. His jumper isnt reliable enough to spread the floor.

Les Alexander WILL be paying luxury tax next year.

After re-signing Scola and Lowry, the Rockets will be well into the luxury tax territory, far too much for Morey to make his usual deadline tax-saving maneuvers.

Did you not read my "Dollars and Sense" article???

You have to be in the top 10 to be in the low first round(21-30). I don't see the Knicks winning enough to be a top 10 team.

Once they renounce his rights, they can't undo it.

Giving up too much for 1 star. Scola is so underrated! Scola and Battier is enough for Bosh or Amare.

Are you Mr. Alexander? How do you know it?

I think Mr. Alexander will pressure Morey not pay lux tax nex year if the rockets cannot land any star player this summer. For example, the rockets could trade Yao for TPE before the trade deadline.

People here always say that Mr. Alexander will be happy to pay lux tax if we land a star palyer like James or Bosh. I am not sure about that. Mr. Alexander didn't pay lux tax during Yao-Tmac era. They were considered as superstars during that time. And, they helped Mr. Alexander earn a lot of money. The rockets didn't have good records during playoffs. You can say Yao and Tmac sucked. But, I think the bigger reason is that Mr. Alexander was unwilling to pay lux tax to improve the team.

Mr. Alexander is not an attractive owner to free agents for sure.

Alexander spent the same amount of money on free agency as the Lakers did last year, the MLE.

Yeah. He didn't just get ranked the 6th best owner in the league or anything.

You have a strange signature for somebody that believes Stoudemire would turn the Knicks pick into a low 1st rounder(21-30).

That's mostly based on the money he has earned. He should thank Yao & Tmac.

You can't go over the MLE for free agents, whether you are the Mavs, Lakers, or the Rockets. They paid the most money that they could for free agents, just like those luxury tax teams.

Morey has been running the same game on other gms since he's been in Houston. He's floating these guys and who will end up traded is a pick, Jeffries and Anderson for Bosh. Maybe not that one sided, but no way does he let it be known this early in the game who he is willing to deal. NO CHANCE.

Do youself really believe the excuse that you just made? As you said, it seems no team should pay lux tax since they were only allowed to spend money equally.

I don't think you really don't know anything about nba.

Multiple teams talking to Toronto trying to work out sign-and-trade scenarios. Bosh determined to get sixth year, so Raps will be involved

It's an interesting theory, but some rough estimates put the Rockets at ~47 million in guaranteed salaries in 2011 if we trade Scola/Ariza for a max FA and keep the young guys. If the cap remains at 56 million then that leaves us with 9 million in cap room with eight roster spots in MAX FA, Martin, Brooks cap hold, Kyle Lowry(4M), Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger, and Jermaine Taylor, and Patrick Patterson - a solid team, surprisingly.

No one knows what the new CBA will bring, but will 9 million be enough to sign a star player? Could we steal away RFAs like Marc Gasol or Al Horford for 9 million. Conventional wisdom says no, so I find it hard to assume that Morey is hitching his wagon on 2011.

Even the Knicks, Bulls and Miami can't go over the luxury tax, even if they want 3 max free agents. It's called a salary cap. You can sign your own players to more money that's it.

you can go over the cap to re- sign your own player if i'm not wrong.
that's how miami can acquire all 3
