Wow...just woken up from my longer-than-planned nap, and I see this thread with 150+ replies and thought it was from like 3 months ago when we tried to get Brent Barry.

Now back onto topic...This is great news!

Ok, these two seasoned winning vets are exactly what we need without interfering with our MLE!!!

Brent Barry and Robert Horry can both sign for the Veteran's Minimum. I think if Morey was desperate to get one of them, probably Brent Barry, he'd offer the LLE to him as a financial incentive over the Spurs.

Its better for these two to be contributing than having Mike Harris and Loren Woods sitting on the bench all day.

oh and having Brent means we can trade away Brooks and Rafer without any worries.

    Bring back the Championship!

one question: Did Morey make the call at 11pm? Doesn't league rules say you can only start talks after midnight Tuesday?

Newbs don't know that Horry has NEVER gone fishing after the first round of the playoffs

His Karma and intangibles > the entire Rockets squad of last year

I'll take a one armed and legged Horry over 50 Steve Novaks

It's good that they won't be using up the MLE,Harris and Woods can be cut but Greene and Dorsey have to be signed. (I know Dorsey still has to make the team.) Brent can shoot better than Rafer but he cannot replace him as a PG.This latter proposed deal will worsen our already weak PG position.Who will give us a better PG for Rafer as part of a package?

He is unhappy with the season he had last season. He wants to have one last go where he can leave everything out on the table. To me that sounds like he is determined to go all out...100%.
I say we give him that chance.

Brent Barry, I agree is also a good choice. He can play the point and back up at the two guard spot.

Both guys have something else in common. Playoffs experiance.

But you know, if we get Horry, it'll be a true test of fate.

Whose streak will prevail? T-Mac's or Horry's? hahaha

We'll actually have a real option for the end of the game.

look back at the Jazz two years ago, no one on the Rockets could handle that pressure, thus we choked in the fourth quarter and got humiliated in front of the home crowd.

    Okur was looking like Horry.

Now when Tmac and Yao or the rest are too scared to shoot at a critical game, we have Hancock.

Sure if these guys come cheap why not bring them in? Our bench was so damn thin in the playoffs this year. We need bodies, and these guys can give us a good 15 minutes a night. I think Horry is set to resign with the Spurs, but Brent is probably coming to Houston.

Either way, having good character vets on a team like ours is a huge asset. Yao and TMac are not natural leaders.

If we gave up Head for a 36 year old and a 38 year old, I will be furious. WTF! I don't care what Horry did 100 years ago for the Rockets. The guy has turned his color from Rockets red to Lakers gold purple and then to Santon white. I thought we now that CD is gone there is no more silly trades or signings for over-the-hill
break down guys. Is this what we are doing to build a contender? I doubt Horry can even play more. He missed almost the full season last year. In what sense, do you think a guy that old and missed that much time can still play? Also yeah Barry is such a offense weapon that the STUPID Santon is letting him go.

That would be the storyline of the entire season.

Horry must really want to be back if he wants a piece of that Tmac Curse.

With Horry a Rockets next year, one or the other record will be broken. Horry not getting to the 2nd round, or Tmac in the 2nd round... :D

In case you haven't noticed people, Morey is frantically in love with Brent Barry.

This from a Feb article when we were pursuing Barry:

Now that Yao is no longer injured, I'm sure Brent wants to follow his family's tradition of retiring in Houston

i get what you're saying about the priority thing. but that does not mean things have to be done in any particular order, eh?
