Maybe Mutombo isn't coming back? Otherwise Anderson has to be some kind of smoke screen because the Rockets priority should be about getting bigger at the backup 2/3 to help McGrady/Battier.

I really hadn't thought about Mutombo not coming back, but your point makes sense.

Novak will make the 15 man roster.
Only way he doesn't is if he seriously injures himself - in which case Maaarty Leunen will make the roster.

The "dead-eye spread 4" is a key component to certain offensive matchup scenarios - and Novak will get used in scenarios where he's not going to kill us defensively (he'll suck, but not kill us...)

Leunen is going overseas. I think they might've agreed to that before drafting him.

Oh I know - I'm just saying that the 'spread 4' is seen as a vital part of our artillery.

A dead-eye 3pt shooting PF is a great compliment to Yao Ming (hence we drafted Leunen - in case Novak loses a leg or something)

With Barry, I heard he was learning towards the Suns and Steve Kerr. Anyways, it is between us and the Suns most likely.

Feigen's blog yesterday made it sound like it's almost a done deal that he'll be a Rocket. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Is anybody else really sick of Brent Barry already? First, he makes us all wait in the regular season with his decision, when anybody with a brain knew all along that he was going to go back to the Spurs. Even then, it was between us, the Spurs, and the Suns. And now, we are in the same boat again, with the exact same freaking teams. Deja vu? Nope, this is just another day in As The World of Brent Barry Turns.....stay tuned next time, when Brent signs with the Spurs, only for them to find out that they actually signed Brent's evil twin brother Trent!

Well I mean, from Barry's perspective, it is a somewhat major decision, so a week is allowable and not too crazy. Of course, as fans, we're much more anxious.

My feelings about whether we'd get him have been a rollercoaster.

Rumors first emerge: "Hmm, Brent Barry? Will we get him?"
A couple more rumors trickle in: "Hmm, we're in the hunt for him. Here we go."
A couple of days later, after the rumors settle: "Hmm, with all these rumors about an offer, I'm just going to illogically assume he'll be ours."
For a few days: "Eh, Barry's probably ours, but I'm ridiculously anxious about the announcement. This silence is excruciating."
Yesterday: "Wait. We might not get him."
5 minutes ago: "He's going back to the Spurs, isn't he?"

Kind of how I read it too....it seems that Barry would not get the playing time anywhere else that he can get here with the LLE money.

Where did you hear that from? I wouldn't think he would want to go the team that his former team (Spurs) beat in the first round. He minest well stay with the Spurs in that case. Also, the Suns can offer only the same amount as his old contract (veteran minimum?), why would he opt out of the a contract to sign the same one? Also, I read that we already offered him 1.9 million (BLE), which more than the Suns. Feigen said that Barry and the Spurs "Both seem ready to go their separate ways."
