He seems like a sentamental guy...ruling out PHX, Dallas, and Celtics.

Leaves houston- dad and brother ended careers here

san antonio- his "bonding brothers" as you guys say

Houston. SA seems to be the obvious choice because of his family, but he also has basketball ties with Houston with his brother and dad playing here. He would get more playing time in Houston as opposed to warming the bench and watching Udoka continue to get better and better. IMO it would be harder to take Udoka's minutes as opposed to Head.

    ROCKETS NOTES
    Team still waiting on Barry

    By FRAN BLINEBURY
    Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle

Free agent Brent Barry wanted one more day to make his decision. He has informed his pursuers in Houston, San Antonio, Phoenix and Boston that he will decide with which one he will finish the season today (Tuesday).

After being surprised to be included in a trade-deadline deal that sent him from San Antonio to Seattle as part of the Spurs' bid to acquire Kurt Thomas, the 36-year-old long-range shooter has been wooed by the heavy-hitting quartet of contenders.

The 6-7 Barry, a career 40.7 percent shooter from beyond the 3-point line, has been sidelined with a calf strain since Jan. 27 and is believed to be at least a week away from returning to the court to practice.

Hopefully we get him. He is another vet that will help us out.

Its between Hou, Spurs and Suns.

Houston and Suns will give him more time.... but Houston is closer for him so its easier.

Spurs if he feels like its his ppl and he knows the system. But he wont be a huge factor there.

They say he wants to play on a team that gives him a chance so ill go out and say he is a Rocket tomorrow. ; )

The longer he mulls over it the less likley he'll head out of San Antonio. Rockets were a longshot in the first place...

    Mmmmmmmmmmm, I don't agree.

I think the longer he mulls it over, the more likely he is to move.

    Ainge speaks to Barry

LOS ANGELES — Before leaving Staples Center tonight, Danny Ainge said he spoke with Brent Barry and got no indication where the guard — a free agent by morning — is headed.

While the Celtics have been seen as somewhat of a longshot in this, Ainge said Barry did not tell him the club was out of the running. But in that Barry is likely to make a call in short order, it couldn’t have been all that encouraging to get no sense from the 6-7 veteran as to how he’s leaning.

Sounds like he is truly torn.

Understandable, if you were a year or two away from retirement - believed you could contribute - know you'd be a bit player on the team and guys you love to play with....

or for 3 hours down the road, could play where your brother and dad played - one hurrah, a 1/3 of a season, where you are being heavily courted and your brother would be there rooting for ya....

tough hey? I think he wants to go to Houston, but loyalty it a big thing for this guy - at the end of the day - he'd kick himself for not taking the chance - the competitive fire is pretty big in the guy.

    I say he does it.

Sounds like a Spurs pulled a stackhouse kind side deal to me. The league ought to close this back door.

Yeah I think the longer he takes the more likely his choice will be SA. That's probably what is making it so hard. His first decision is should I go back to SA or leave... "My family is settled here.. I love the guys on the team... They are right on track to repeat... But they did trade me... And they haven't been playing me... And they did lose to Boston and Houston twice and even Seattle recently". What should I do?

I like our chances if he doesn't choose SA but I don't think he has made that decision yet. That's the first decison and then he has to choose a team. I think it is a tough decision for him. But in the end familiarty is always nice.
