We don't really want Brent Barry, what it comes down to is that he's really popular right now and we just got out of a nasty break up with Bonzi so he seems like a good choice. As soon as Brent shows any interest in us it's over.
Don't get cocky. As good as the Rockets are right now, when playoff comes, they'll need every advantage they can get.
I'm thinking Novak goes on the inactive list if Barry signs with us. His brother JB said Brent will make his decision by Tuesday.
duh! Acutally think tonight will convince him to come to Houston becasue of all the open 3 point shots tonight. Tusday can't come fast enough.
How can people say we don't need him.. Hello we don't have Bonzi anymore to play 2/3 like Tmac... we have freaking Luther Head.. If Tmac gets injured, Good bye season.
absolutely! we need him as a powerful backup in the playoff. especially his experience in the playoff will surrport us more beside bobby jax.
I think we could have a solid 9 or 10 man rotation with Barry. You can never have too many 3 point shooters come playoff time. Playoff time is defense time. If you can hit the trey, that will spread the defense and open up the middle for Yao, Scola, Landry & our penatrators. We'll have more 4th quarters like tonight. Barry is a team layer with a couple of rings. He'll be a playoff tutor for the team.
I hope Brent realizes that the Rocket's offense system will give him a better change to succeed. Aldeman's systems spreads the scoring around and favors player that can shoot the long ball.
I've watched alot of SA games this year and last. He is a good shooter and passer, but has significantly slowed down from what he used to be. He looks like he's 45, not 35, and against young athletic teams like tonight's Bulls, he would have struggled. That being said, he has great playoff experience and court vision. We'll need more offense in the playoffs and he could help in that department. I still think we need an athletic 2/3 we can actually plug into the lineup and spell TMac.
I don't know if I mis-heard Jon Barry stating that the Spurs are going to miss Brent's three point shooting during the Bulls game. Maybe he already knows Brent is leaving the Spurs and I hope it is for the Rockets.
He's been slowed by a calf injury. That's the only question I have about the guy. Barry can bring a skillset we should be drooling over. He's got to be healthy to do it.
He was giving grades for the deadline trades. Gave only a '' C'' To San Antonio's trade and then said Barry's shooting will be missed !
I don't know, I don't think Brent Barry likes Rockets, Rockets pursued him before he even went to spurs I think, and he pretty much blew us off. I don't see him coming here. But who knows.
Brent Barry I think is somewhat overrated around here. He is a great open shooter and OK handles. But he is pretty old and unathletic now (agree with drpepper)--he has been largely and afterthought in the Spurs rotation and they have almost traded him for years. He also isn't near as clutch/ballsey as Jon--in the playoffs Barry seemed less and a less of a factor and even the Spurs turned to other scrubs who aren't as unathletic (e.g., Vaughn). Now I am fine to pick him up for a 2 year min. But I would see him little more than a bit player and I would not for sure give him many minutes over Jackson and Head, who are much more athletic. I would be glad to have him, but Barry would be much more important to Boston and the Suns.
