Tate could net us Bamba if Stone would try.

I like Grant Williams but what will be a crappy 1st along with him for Tate doesn’t interest me either.

Tate is underrated on here, if the team builds a competitive roster next year he’ll be a nice glue guy.

I don't get it. Grant shoots over 40% from 3 and is a much better defender than Tate. He is a key piece to a championship contender and we don't want that and a 1st for Tate?

What kind of players are we looking for?

Why are you guys so in love with shitty players? Is Mo even in the Orlando rotation anymore @YOLO?

It's not that Celtics doesn't like Grant, they are reluctant to pay him a raise. They think he is already at his ceiling. Celtics has lot of salary already. They like Tate, because Tate's contract is much cheaper.

I would consider Grant if Stone thinks he can flip Grant better than the Celtics; his archetype is sought after; but you have to be a smooth talker to pull it off. GMs have seen Grant in the playoffs, people have watched more of his game than Tate's. He's a known commodity; likely more future buyers.

Worst case, we have plenty cap room. Obviously don't over spend on him, but enough at market value.

As far as near term; Grant is a better defensive player than any of the guys on the squad. Green/KJ/Jabari our wings and forward are so bad on defense at times. If in games you need to bench them and put in someone at least competent; could be Grant.

For pivot year, should start considering some mid pieces. Outside of the controversial/maybe Harden return, the free-agent class is kinda doo-doo. And if after the draft, the positional need become different, can still move off of Grant. With Wall off the books, Rockets still need to be at salary floor. Key is to get Grant on a reasonable deal.

Even though I like Tate, Rockets need to stop holding onto certain pieces, if a good deal comes along.

Grant is currently at 41.4% 3pt. Grant is 3&D, Tate is just D.

There is no way the Celtics offered Grant Williams + 1st round pick for Tate. Grant Williams has improved every year and has shot 41% on 3s past 2 years. He is also an above average defender despite his limitations. He is the exact type of player you should put next to Sengun and Green. Unless we think Grant Williams will command a huge salary, why not do this trade?

    Who offered a first?
The rumor was 'potential draft compensation' - which might just be them giving us back our 2nd rounder this year...

Why are we worried about championship contending glue-guys being turned down to improper draft compensation and on top of that the guy being a rental.

We're still in the infant stages of trying to find championship contending superstars... this is being overblown here.
