I'd be curious to see how many kids/younger people would want those old jerseys or something similar. Those jerseys were 30+ years ago, so most of them probably wouldn't remember them outside of via pics or videos. I don't really have that much of a fondness for them anymore other than nostalgia. I don't hate them, but not in love with them. I loved the NASA-themed stuff recently, have grown tired of the murder mansion "R" logo, and, after looking at these new city edition jerseys for a day or two, I don't hate them or like them. I'm more like "whatever" about them, I guess. But I'm not part of their demographic, either, since I really don't buy them. I just want a damn nice looking cap with a slightly-curved brim instead of the flat-brimmed ones that make you look like you're wearing a bucket on your head. I bought one with a flat brim and thought I could steam a curve into it, but the stupid curve won't hold for more than a day.
The dunkstronaut Jersey's actually the best Jersey we've had since the championship days imho. I'd have kept that design as the main one going forward.
Here's my thing: I want to turn on the TV and know it's the Rockets playing. I don't want to have the time of confusion it takes for my brain to recalibrate and associate the Rockets with yellow or black or pinstripe or whatever abhorrent design is vomited up on a marketing whim. You want to make some tweaks to the Championship unis? Sure, they probably need an update just like you might put new tires on a '65 Shelby GT350 Mustang. But you don't scrap the Mustang and pull up in a Yugo trying to convince everyone that it's better.
Yep, those jerseys are still better than anything else they have designed since. Here would be my recommendation for an upgrade. Take a very thin line of gold and frame each letter and number with it to just give it a a slight visual pop on the jersey. Mission accomplished.
I like pretty much everything except all things Dallas, Pepsi, the Utah Jazz, and the rebrand of the Rockets in 95/6
red and yellow originals are like nike Air Force ones or OG Jordans, they don't go out of style this New Jersey looks like it was made by someone who just learned how to use Microsoft word or an old navy employee.. @Jontro @Os Trigonum
Lol, what? Are people supposed to like a trash jersey just because you don't like it when people voice their negative opinions?
I don't get it. I love simplicity in jersey designs, but there is nothing about this that indicates it's a Rockets Jersey other than that it says "H-Town". Where did these colors come from?
At least there's some Rockets colours in there, we could've gone back to the WOW era Clippers jerseys. Still, they should've kept the Dunkstronaut, so glad I copped one of those last season.
Theses yearly jerseys are a very annoying cash grab. They give zero f**ks about whether fans like them or not. They get one year and then out because jersey sales fall off a ton after the initial season regardless of quality. So they just throw a new one out every year to make them sales. Most of them are unimaginative trash, but they will occasionally have a hit. Just be happy while we still have the team name on the jersey at all. That valuable billboard space isn't long for the world.
It's not only basketball now. Nike just turned team uniforms into their cash grab. From city jerseys to jerseys for all occasions, to all kinds of colors, you don't even know which team is which without looking for clues. Very few teams stick to one identifying color or design these days.
H-Town is so bad. It's indistinguishable from P-Town, M-Town, and A-Town It's the celebrity shortcut of Jerseys. I don't need no J-Lo or Scar-Jo or M-Rob on my team's jerseys.
