Suddenly I don't feel as bad about the MoT and Maloney deals.

Maybe Les should worry a little less about the Luxury Tax.

Probably not a mistake. Pension plans are huge institutional investors. Teachers is one of the biggest plans out there. They have a huge presence in private equity transactions. They make investments all the time in unconventional assets. When you have billions to manage, you can't just plop everything down in the stock market or in bonds. Portfolio theory says you need to round out your investments to have some diversification. You'd be surprised at some of the assets these guys buy.

I don't think the luxury tax was invoked this year.

His money has not helped the Blazers or Seahawks to any title. Instead he has Jail Blazers and SoftHawks.

BUT the man went out and extended Tmac's contract to a Max contract, which, to me is worth a whole lot than a 'key role player'. We have players that are capable of doing alot of things and I think its just a matter of time where we start clicking like we did last night on a more consistent basis. Juwon Howard sure did look good last night.

What it comes down to is this......

What this basically says to me is, is that since the Rockets are making all of this money, then Les shouldn't balk at us going over the LUXARY TAX limit in terms of adding players to the roster. I think over the last years Les has been unwilling to add "role players" that push the team's payroll over the Tax limit which would in effect double the role players cost to the team. I think the James Posey situation is one example.

With the above revenue in mind, that revenue should be invested back into the team with Les willing to go ABOVE the LT limit even in acquiring ROLE PLAYERS. This pertains to our T.E. where we can accept salary without giving it out and with using the FULL MLE to add salary to the team.

    see what I dont understand.

There is a luxury tax but teams like Dallas / Kings/ Portland I know are over the limit.

But what about teams like the Suns?

    SMarion - Max Deal
    SNash - Near Max Deal
    QRich - Big Deal
Amare will get a Max Deal

how do they afford all this?
