If you re-up him now how will you know what his market value is? As the name suggests the market value is the value determined by the market, re-upping him before he becomes a restricted free agent prevents that from ever happening. DD is right reupping him now would make no sense at all. Market has a way of moving differently from what people expect, most people had Artest pegged at 7 mill a year minimum and he got signed for mid-level.

Won't happen under Morey sorry. Scola is on the other side of 30 and DM has a proven track record of finding cheap replacement via trade or the draft. I think if Scola has a great year then he should command 8-10 million a pop, thats just the market for bigs. So Morey will trade him for some younger prospects. I could see a scenario during trade deadline where Morey ships Battier and Scola for young prospects and draft picks. Again the Rockets are a year away from meaningful basketball but in the current situation look for Morey to cover his bases and have a semi rebuilding plan with hedges against the doomsday scenario of Yao never returning to his dominant form.

My ideal goal this year is to land a top lottery pick hopefully John Wall, trade Battier and Scola for more young players in the 20-25 age group and save cap space by letting T-Mac's contract expire and then rolling the dice on Lebron, Wade or Bosh.

    Luis is 29.

It's different for bigs, unlike wings, these will be his prime years.

ghettocheeze is obviously well over 30 himself - therefore when he says Scola is on the 'other side of 30', he means that he's under 30 (ie - the other side of 30 as compared to himself)

OR he just has no idea how old Scola is?

His next 3 years will be his best (including this season)

I say "Yes". A contract of 6-7M for four years with a team option in the last year. I think it is a fair deal.

I think he'll get a better offer than that to play overseas. They still love him and he dominates in FIBA rules.

If Chris Bosh is really are target next summer then I don't see why would we tie up money on Scola.. Don't get me wrong I love the guy and the passion he brings but if Bosh is really a target I rather use the Scola Money on another need.

That is why I want to lock him early before his value gets too high. We know Wafer got much more money by playing in overseas.
