Keep Battier but he is better suited off of the bench.

    Battier for Odom

or trade his ass for Lewis.

Damn Battier and all his intangibles

Both odom or rashard lewis are way too expensive for we to offer.
Shane Battier earns 5.4 million, but Odom earns 12.5 million, and Lewis eanrs 9.35 million. Lewis might be seeking for a 10M+ contract.

According to ESPN both Sura and Lucas have partially guaranteed contracts. So they could be traded for up to 125% of around 4.6M plus or minus 100k. So teams looking to salary dump could potentially trade away 5.85M then waive those two for 1.5M.

If would be great if the Rockets can offload Juwan to Chi who have been liking their vet PF's (and making around the same money as JHo with one or two years left on their contracts) in recent seasons. Bulls can absorb JHo's contract (ie Rockets take back zero salary) since they're under the cap. DM should be on the phone pimping the hometown hero angle starting from last night.

The Bulls aren't under the cap anymore. Gordon, Hinrich, and Nocioni all signed extensions this year.

They're still around 7m under the cap with Hinrich and Gordon extended. Gordon will be on the last year of his rookie contract next season.

I'm pretty sure Nocioni hasn't been signed. I've only read he's a S&T candidate. He's restricted anyway so they can pursue other players earlier then match any offers for him if they wish to keep him.

I did not realize Battier only made 4.5 million. He might not be the third guy, but he isn''t really being paid exactly as the third guy. What a bargain Shane is for that price. Makes it tough to get a player as good for the money. Though in a way, that makes him even more valuable as trade bait.

Battier and the first for Stevie and a decent Knicks SF or PF or two who can play? If the PF can score and shoot. , Hayes can move to SF. Defense will be good from Hayes and except for the 3, he is about as good as Shane on offense.

Sorry but if i had any say in the matter I wouldn't have made the trade! Battier is only good enough to play a back up role. JVG and CD pulled the wool over all our eyes after they made that lopsided trade. I can't even remember who Battier was guarding in game 7. I can't call him a defensive stopper!!

    Didn't I predict this argument?

The tangibles vs. Intangibles division in the fanbase.

Well Rudy Gay has already matched him in the tangibles, I wonder how good he could have been with T Mac instead of Tarance Kinsey.

If there are to be comparisons made it should be Battier v Thabo not Battier v Gay. Rockets would've traded down.

Battier's a great role player, but as others have pointed out, trading him may be what it takes to make a major upgrade in the PF or PG position. And right now, those positions are more urgent.

Why would we NEED t trade away Battier? It's not like he'd still be the 3rd scorer if we get someone else who can be the 3rd scorer.

Besides, he's has helped our team, and we already pissed away Gay and Swift for him, might as well keep him.

    This is just stupid.

The guy's the model role-player, middle-man, glue-guy. He's a starter for Team USA. He did all the things he was supposed to do. This series loss goes to everyone except Battier.

Nikestrad, you think Shane is a great offensive player-- aside from his 3's made off of double teams.

or you think Hayes is so clearly inferior to Battier defensively.

    Please clarify.

You've seen ENOUGH of Rudy Gay to say that Battier will be better than he will ever be? LMAO.

I'm not saying Battier suck,s because he's a good roleplayer, but to judge Gay and his future based on his rookie year...

    Gay (rookie year): 10.8ppg 4.5rpg 1.3 apg 42.2%fg 36.4%3pt 72.7%ft .9stls 1blk
    Kobe (rookie year): 7.6ppg 1.9rpg 1.3apg 41.7%fg 37.4%3pt 81.9%ft .7stls .3blk

Yeah Kobe will NEEEVER be as good as Battier too...
