Edey turns 22 in a week and a half He ain't a finished product, but he's just about as close as you're gonna get from a college prospect
I normally don't weigh in on this stuff because I don't really watch college basketball nor do I have a good eye for potential, but what the hell. Edey is a bum. This guy is gonna suck and I don't want him at all.
Might be worth a 2nd rounder. Less risky to trade for him but that would mean someone else took him in the 1st round and he was not performing up to speed.
Bobi would have been even better if he came in as a 22-23 year old instead of 27 year old Scola like rookie. Hey, he came in hot for 6 points a game.
That doesn't matter. Jalen Brunson was 22 when he entered. There is something to someone who has played a lot of college ball and can still get better. IMO, Edey can effect the game in more ways.
Add another dud from 3 point land to the roster? Why do we do this to ourselves? Sengun is infinitely more valuable within that archetype. You should be focusing on stretch 5's, not space eaters.
A taller and bulkier Kessler. I compare him to Jokic, who everyone on this board would have said the same things (slow and not athletic). Scouts thought same thing and Nuggets grabbed him in second round at age 21 for first season. Same draft today and he goes number one without a doubt. Edey is definitely no Jokic, but he can change the game for the Rockets by adding the one thing this team horrifically lacks….bulk and size. I can’t watch another game with toothpick Jabrari or grandpa Green playing Center. Yes, we have Adams, but he’ll be 32 soon and is on the downside of his career and with injury issues propping up as he ages. What a perfect player, though, to take Edey under his wings and teach him the tricks of the trade. I hate drafting for needs (always want best player available), but this is the one time you do it because of the perfect fit and right elements (Adams & Olajuwon) to upgrade his skillset which just included a 40-20 and 37-11 games against excellent teams in the NCAA Tournament.
The question for me is . . . is he better than Landale or will he be Even if he is 2 yrs away from respectability . . . . we have the time I have no expectation that he would start ahead of Adams He definitely learn some grit and grind from Adams Honestly these playoffs indicate that BANGING DOWN LOAD is coming back. . . . I think the league wants it . the fans want it That gritty hands bumpy hard fouling 90s ball . . . . Rocket River
Two of the best players in the league right now are Jokic and Doncic, both are stiffs. Denis Rodman couldn't hit a shot from beyond 3 ft. to save his life. If Rodman 2.0 were in this draft and you could see in the future, you'd be foolish not to take him #1. Here's what we know: 1. Edey didn't pick up bball until his sophomore year in HS. He's improved every year. 2. He did things comparable to other super elite players in college. 3. His coach's system at Purdue was "dump him the ball down low." That was the whole system. We have no idea how Edey will do when he isn't the #1 option and if he can adjust (but look at #1 again). Three questions: 1. Can Edey ball? 2. Can he stay healthy? (wild card) 3. Can his coach put him in spots to take advantage of #1? If the dude is a baller, he's a baller. Period. NBA is full of examples of ballers that people discounted; Iverson, Curry, Yao, etc. NBA is also full of examples of players that look good on paper that never reach potential and vice versa. Calling Edey a "stiff" isn't sufficient. There are plenty of stiffs, too small, short wing-span, no vertical, etc etc etc that have had long careers in the NBA.
Why are you wasting a lotto pick and 2 yrs if prep time for a backup though? That's why my question is if you think he is better than Sengun because Sengun is our starter.
