All I know is that he is in the last year of his contract, i think its worth around 3.3 million. He is also rotting away on the bobcats bench, behind okafor, may, and othello harrington. Would seem a logical addition to the rockets, but what do we have to offer the bobcats?

This is a disgrace that this thread is around the day of Mutombo's bobblehead giveaway. Have you no shame?? Somewhere, Deke is wagging his finger- but not at a opposing player, but at you, daoshi. There is only one back up center, and that person is Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo.

Here are some big men that are on the last year of their contracts that the rockets might have a chance of gettin their hands on. I left off Melvin Ely bc he was mentioned in the previous posts.

Marc Jackson, NO Hornets, 6-10 253 lbs. 1 year $4.875 million left on contract
Brian Skinner, Mil Bucks, 6-9 265 lbs. 1 year $5.4 million left on contract
Scott Pollard, Cle Cavs, 6-11 265 lbs. 1 year $2.2 million left on contract
Calvin Booth, Was Wizards, 6-11 250 lbs. 1 year $998,967 left on contract

as much as we need a back up C, we really need our role players to become role players..we depend solely on yao and mac for so much of the offence we get creamed when they double/triple team us. WE NEED NOVAK AND VSPAN. not to mention bobby back.

But he takes rebounds, blok shots, is not so slow like Deke and can dunk in your face! :D By the way, where is Cato playing now?

    Cato's with the Knicks now.

He would've been an excellent addition. He would be a nice fill-in for Chuck Hayes, and a good backup C to help Mutombo as well.

He also knows the system, and has shown he can be effective on this team.

Good rebounder, shotblocker, defender. Decent mobility, excellent size.

I'm sure he'd rather rot away on the Rockets bench than the Knicks.

I wouldn't mind dealing Juwan for Malik Rose right about now. That would help us a bit more at C, more energy, more toughness, and save us some cash as well. Malik's also played and won with Tim Duncan's Spurs, so that should help.

We need a tiny tweak. Juwan for someone who's a slightly better fit at C, and a slightly lesser fit at PF.

    Just a quick question

Is Darko a free agent by any chance next season? Would he be able to come at a trade or a FA signing next season? IS he even a good fit for the rockets? He can play C and PF, can block can shoot.

Darko will be a FA next season. He can block alot of shots. This should be his coming out year, but for some reason or another, he just isn't improving at all. He was playing excellent basketball at the end of last season. Darko has soo much potential but so far this year he has stunk it up. If he keeps playing the way he has the rest of the season, he might actually be a bargain next year.

Out of those I would take Skinner. Mainly bcuz he's the only one I've seen play and his jumper has come a long way. He nailed 3 or 4 in a row in both games (one was preseason) this year.

I was hopeing we could maybe use the 4.2 mil te we have to get darko or even trade wells for darko. It may sound crazy but i think darko would thrive here and would have more long term value the bonzi would for us.

if you were watching rockets games recently, you would now that he plays for NY and that he sucks a$$..

Cato is trash.. slamming the ball hard in an alleyoop doesn't make you a good player.. I would take a 60 years-old Deke over Cato..

    Keith Van Horn?? Brilliant.. :D

man, Van Horn is one hell of a center.. the guy can rebound, and his post moves are just great..!! :D

but I would have to go with signing Earl Boykins as backup center.. the guy is a shot-blocking machine..

I dont know what games you've been watching.. ..

how did u come to the conclusion that Deke can no longer provide 10+ minutes?? I know he loses the ball a lot, but that's not new.. and it's not his fault.. if I were Tmac, I wouldn't throw a 100 miles per hour Pass to Deke in the post.. he obviously wont be able to catch it.. actually, Deke SHOULDN'T get any touches on offense.. his points should solely come from Offensive rebounds, which he can still do really well..

I told everyone the same thing last year. It was obvious then that Deke was on fumes. Who did you plan on listening to you? The same people that didn't get a big man last year and then traded away our only substitue.
