It's a toss up between Mobley and JJ.

Between Cat and JJ, they were fantastic from THREE land this season..

I think it will go to JJ though, he has been fantastic with career highs in threes.

    JJ!

according to most. . . without steve we would have been 82-0

    Yao

he carried the team through the entire season, Steve was having an off season and so it was up Yao.

Yao led in pts and reb but also help clog the lane and did alot of other little stuff that doesn't get noticed. Teams also payed extra attention on him to free up some of the other guys like JJ who had a career high in 3pters made.

I have to go with Yao. JJ's play was above everybody's expectation, that's maybe the reason he got the most votes, but I just can't pass up the person who leads the team in points, rebounds, blocks, fg%, shoots 80% free throws, creats tons of open threes for other players while be the most important piece of our defense as well.

Without Yao hurts Rockets much more than without JJ, that means Yao is more valuable.

Don’t live in Houston but I do read the bbs, just figured more SOF would voice their opinions

As for myself I’ll stick with JJ as my choice

There were periods when Yao was the MVP on the team, periods when Cat was the MVP, right now during the playoffs Steve has been the MVP.

But for the season as a whole, JJ is the MVP. He's been the one and only consistently good player.

It's so hard to say, Cato has anchored our defense, Ming has been our low-post presence along with MoT, Cat and JJ have been shooting well from beyond the arc, Steve has come through on numerous occasions and has been our play-maker. So many valuables, all in all I have to agree with some when they say JJ. He's been rock solid all year in every phase, even had 20 rebounds the other night. On a team full of youth he's been our constant our veteran that still has game, we'd truly be lost without him. That being said I had to give it to Steve, most agree that JJ is it, but Steve really doesn't get credit; he's top 10 in assists, has played good d, and all of this while under pressure. I am very happy with this core, we have some good years left it us. It's only the beginning hopefully JJ can be around when we have some success.

This is a poll for MVP or MCP????? The guy leads in pts, rbs, blks, and fg% is not MVP of the team? Doesn't make sense for me.

Agreed, it’s kind of a shame he came to Houston so late in his career but I think he is the kind of player that will help our younger guys grow.

JJ shot 35% in Nov, 43% in Dec, 49% in Jan, 39% in Feb, 42% in Mar, 47% in Apr. Not quite sure those are consistent numbers. Switch Apr's with Nov's, a lot people would say JJ is inconsistent. That what happened to Yao, his worst stats happened in Apr.

You know what? Some people just don't want to vote for Yao, and they know there is no reason for Francis, at least this year, so they go to JJ. That is an indirect bashing on Yao IMO. JJ is pretty good in terms of his role in this team, but he was not and will never be the difference-maker, nor the base of Rockets. Like gbao said, MVP is most VALUEBLE player than anything else. Anyway, it doesn't bother me too much when people vote for JJ and Cat as long as we all support this team. Go Rockets! I am looking forward to the 6th game in Houston;)

If Yao is so inconsistent, how can he lead the team in points, rebounds, blocks, and FG%? And in fewer minutes too. JJ has a terrfic year, but he is still a role player, a fourth option.

Me neither. Sure JJs been a great roleplayer but cmon, he's not the MVP of the Rockets. A lot of people say without JJ we're not good, but hell, take away Cat or Steve or even MoT and we'll be worse...yet take away Yao and we become the Sonics of the midwest.

How come every damn thread has to turn into a Rockets player bash-a-thon?
