I'm not saying he's super great at running the break, but both Mobley and Francis are natural wing-players on the break. The are better at finishing on the break, while Mooch is the best at running the break. And I agree Mo should be our top priority, I get a sinking feeling that Fegan is using the Rockets to get at Falk. To get at Falk, he'll try to squeeze out Mo. That is my opinion anyway. I say we sign Mo first, then deal with Anderson and Mooch. Then tell Fegan to go **** himself, cause we won't be dealing with him ever again.
They supposedly also signed Derrick Martin. So I don't think Moochie is in danger of going to Dallas. But you never know.
This of course wouldn't be the first time the Rockets low-balled someone. I thought the Rockets low-balled Hakeem for a reason, that being they had agreements already with their other FAs. Now it seems they had no such agreements, and they low-balled Hakeem just because they could. That's gratitude for ya.
We need a starting 4 and starting 5 before we worry about Mooch and then SA. Now matter what they are back-ups next year and their usefulness can't be confused with out desperate needs elsewhere. Luckily Mo will be our man for the 4. Mo is priority #1. Next is a center, if not Marc Jackson we need a functional starter to pair with Cato or a young project (to bad we didn't get involved in the Heywood trade--I would have offered this Toronto pick). Once Mo is signed and we have a at least a firm plan for a 5, then we consider acting on Mooch and SA's situation.
First off...great upgrade! Fegan is a ball-crushing agent that will squeeze ours until he's drained us of as much $$ as possible. Time to play hard-ball back...FU[K HIM! Excuse my emotion. We should make our best offers to Mooch and SA...if they take it great, if not... - We can let SA go - Sign Mo to a reasonable contract and an agreement that he will work with big men on his game...hire Mo Malone to teach him the art of rebounding - Look to sign Shammond Williams as our back-up PG...believe he is still available - Sign Jackson for 4 mil/yr for 3-4 yrs
Actually he did receive some gratitude from the Rockets: 16.5 million dollars worth. I'd say the Rockets were the ones who got "balled," not Hakeem.
I agree, we should not overpay for Moochie or Shandon. These players do not win games, however they "sometimes" keep you in the game. I can distinctly remember moochie winning the Indiana game, however he gets abused by the taller guards in the league. Shandon cannot shoot straight to save his life. Let's send Fegan a message and hardball with his remaining clients. If Dallas is willing to sign Moochie and Shandon let them mortgage the short-term. There are plenty of players that can do what Moochie and Shandon do for the Rockets.
Personally, I think the Rockets should sign MO first to about $6 mill, tender an offer for the mid-level to Jackson or some other FA, & give it one week of hard negotiations for Moochie & Shandon. If, after the one week, it appears that the DEVIL is going to drag it out like the Dream negotiations, then we renounce Shandon & pay Moochie the $4 million & resign Bull for the veteran's minimum. I realize he might not be worth that much as a backup PG, but in the Rocket's system, he is an integral part of the 3 guard rotation that we rely so heavily on. Letting Shandon walk would send a message to Fegan & any players that might want him as their agent in the future.
I've heard from sources close to satan that he is really pissed about being associated with Fegan in that poll. Appartently he considers Fegan even too slimey for him.
Personally, If I were CD/Rudy, I'd let slip to Steve, Cat, Mo, & Walt that we have no desire to deal with Mooch and Shandon's agent, and that having him as their agent might actually cost them. That if we have to deal with him we'll do it last, after we've already played the FA market out and they'll only have scraps to ask for. Let the other players suggest to them that if they really want to remain Rockets and get reasonable compensation, firing their agent very soon might be a good idea. Anderson we really don't need anymore, but Moochie I really would like to keep. But neither is worth as much as the Devil is going to ask for them. Anyway, doesn't Fegan live in Houston? May be wrong, thought I heard that somewhere. I wonder if he'll feel safe going out to get his paper in the morning from now on...
I want to keep the mooch just as much if not more than anybody but the Rocks can afford to move ahead without him seeing the way sean colson continues to develop (another CBA refugee). Next let SAnderson walk so The Wizard can start and piss off Satan's personal boy toy. Priority #1 sign MoT and #2 get Marc Jackson. I heard the Rocks are looking at Jelani McCoy anybody know much about this former Bruin???
Good point. I thought the same thing. It's possible that once Hakeem walked, the other FA's raised their demands in an attempt to collect the spoils. But I kind of doubt that. The more likely situation is that the Rockets and Hakeem took so long to resolve their standoff that in the meantime other big men were locked up with other teams, and now the Rockets' plans are so messed up that they're scrambling to figure out exactly how much it'll cost them to get a decent big man, before they decide which of their free agents they can afford to re-sign other than Mo. As for gratitude, I'm sure Hakeem's attitude is the same as yours. Namely, he ignores how much he was overpaid last year when calculating how much he should be paid this year. That's gratitude for ya.
Everyone knew Mo wasent a great rebounder but he did what he was asked to do! I think Lopez resigned with the TWolves, but I really would of liked to pick him up to replace Shandon. I really want Moochie back but if there is going to be complications I would just say **** Fegan and if Mooch and Shandon want to go else where then let them go,we dont need to overpay them! Shandon hasent provided anything but defense and there are a million point guards that can provide some back up minutes behind Steve, jmo.
Moochie is a good player.I would sign him rather than S.Anderson.I was frustrated with the Olajuwon talks but I'm getting mad now. I hate Fegan.
For anyone who is familiar with the musical "Oliver" "Fegan" is the name of the loathesome, treacherous leach of a man whose selfishness for grabbing every bit of money he can leads his life into stealing, lying, and murdering. Guess God new what kind of guy he was from birth.
Unlike some of you I do believe Mooch is a big piece of this team. He's the sixth man, huge fan favorite, a clutch payer, instant offense from the bench and one of the best PURE point guards in the game (including starters.) I don't know if he's worth 4 mil, but I know we need someone to back up Steve and Cuttino, unless they're supposed to play 48 min a night. Maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't think that there are an abundance of players available for his spot that are worlds better. I don't care if Shandon walks, but we should re-sign Mooch.
How do ya mean? I happen to agree with Wakko, especially that Mooch is one of the best pure PGs in the game. He is unselfish (rare and important in a PG), fast, has some range, has decent hands and footwork, always gives 100%, has an amazing ability to find his way through the trees up front and float one in, and has great chemistry with the guys. Oh, and did I mention the hair? I'm not saying we couldn't live without him - it wouldn't be THAT hard to replace him - just asking you to elaborate on the bolded word in your post.
