Chuck Hayes + Steve Francis for Charlie Vilanueva Mike James + Steve Francis + Kirk Snyder + Steve Novak for Wally Szczerbiak Bonzi Wells + Mike James for Josh Childress and Tyronne Lue
Plausible, but one small hiccup on Miami's part. Why would they want 3 small guards back? Unless of course one of James/Luther backs up Stoudamire, but even then, neither James nor Luther are pure points per se. That leaves one of the 3 out. I don't think Miami will do this trade. They'll need a big to back up Shaq and Haslem after Mourning's injury imo. Is Doleac still on the team?
white choclate is basically rafer with a jumpshot so yes i would love to have him. the only concerning thing is his health, but other than that he could start right now instead of rafer.

"They just use and get rid of us whenever they want," Williams said before Tuesday's game at Cleveland. Williams, who is slumping offensively at 8.7 points per game while shooting 39.4 percent from the field, including 36 percent on three-pointers, will earn $8.9 million this season, the final year of his contract. His contract status makes him attractive in trades to teams looking to lop off some salary and he's been mentioned in connection with Sacramento, Houston, Memphis and Philadelphia. But he said the rumors aren't bothersome. "That's how the business is. They try to keep it as quiet as possible, which they should," Williams said. "That's the best way to go about it. Agents and things like that can't stop the things from happening." Williams, who has played for Sacramento and Memphis, said the trade rumors are a result of Miami's losing season. "Everybody's just going to start to look for reasons why - blame this, blame that, blame him, blame me," Williams said. "When you start winning, everything takes care of itself. I'm human. It's more about my family than me, you know?"

"The thing about it is how it affects your family," Williams said before scoring nine points in Tuesday's 96-82 loss to the Cavaliers. With the trading deadline less than two months away, Williams said he can't help feel he's viewed more as an expiring contract than a needed contributor. "We're like some high-paid prostitutes anyway in this league," he said. "They just use and get rid of us whenever they want." Williams is in the final year of a contract that pays $8.9 million this season. "If it happens, it happens," he said. What Williams doesn't appreciate is being scapegoated. "Losing, everybody's just going to start to look for reasons why," he said. "Blame this, blame that, blame him, blame me."
Man... Jason Williams plays like Rafer Alston and talks like Mike James. The guy is destined to be a Rockets point guard.
In his case, I agree Jason Williams is being scapegoated. How many times does D. Wade drive into two or three defenders and chuck up an off-balance shot? If Miami is struggling, the fault should be directed at Wade, Riley, and O'Neal. Re: the Jason Williams / Rafer Alston comparison -- if I remember correctly, only one of them has been the starting PG for a championship team. Can ANYONE objectively see Rafer Alston as the starting PG for a championship team?
Until Jason Williams actually won with Miami, I don't think many among us could see him as the starting PG for a championship team, either. Frankly, if the Miami team had Alston rather than Williams in their championship year, I think they probably would be a stronger team. Williams and Alston are very similar players: great dribbling skills, good court vision and inconsistent shooting (but dedent enough beyond the arc so guys can't entirely forget about them). Both of these guys used to be "flashy" and focused on highlight reels, but have learned to play a very good old-school caretaker PG role. At this point of their careers (and health histories), Alston probably has an edge defensively.
Alston can dribble the ball up the court, but let's be serious, there are few players who can handle the ball like Jason Williams. Also, unlike Alston, Williams is a threat to penetrate and score on penetration.
I envisioned James backing up Stoudamire. Wade handles the ball enough that it wouldn't be a huge issue, in my opinion. As for needing to get a big, I disagree. They have Mark Blount who is servicable, and Earl Barron who they finally started playing in the last 3 games and has shown well (8.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 59% FG in 17.7 minutes). Bottom line is that they are the 2nd worst team in the NBA, they need shooters, and they're in no position to be picky unless they are flat out surrending the season already.
Throw in Ricky Davis, and let's call it a done deal. Really. I know he can be a headcase, but Davis can be that "Third Scorer" that everyone keeps talking about. Melancholy Cod
Not really... William's career FG% and scoring average per minute are actually similar to Alston's. He doesn't score more frequently or efficiently than Alston overall. If we are talking strictly finishing at the rim off the dribble, their FG% on layups for the last 3 years, are: Alston: 55% (05/06), 50% (06/07), 62%(07/08 so far) Williams: 56%, 55%, 46%. .
Davis is the wrong "Third Scorer." If Adelman wants guys to operate within the system and make good decisions, Ricky Davis is definitely not the guy. The guy has some talent, but he likes to go 1 on 5 rather than play a 5 man offense.
OHHH, White Chocolate I read this too fast, and thought we were trying to trade for the Chocolate Rain kid.
He is a better PG in every way.....and I would love to have him on the Rockets. A pass first PG.....backed up by Aaron Brooks. The team would be better, and that is all that matters. DD
We already have one guy that jacks up pull up 3s on fast breaks. I don't think we need another one. Add to that Williams plays no defense whatsoever, and we're worse off IMO.
