Some seriously bad takes in here.

Iggy is old but is still an elite perimeter defender who the Rockets would desperately need when they come up against Lebron/Kawhi in the playoffs.

You’d rather have the 28th pick in next years draft? Give me a break.

I wouldn’t trade Gordon for him though.

I’m pretty confident that won’t happen. They will only sign Shumpert to a deal if an Iggy trade is wrapped up!

No to giving up a 1st for iggy

Rather keep Shumpert, he’s healthy has time to bounce back

Ideally you'd wait and let him get bought out …. but is this his preferred destination in that scenario ? Likely not , he'd end up in LA with LeB!tch.

Iggy would definitely be a major force on this roster - able to play 2-4 seamlessly.

If all it costs you is a S&T Shumpert and a draft pick , I think you do that.

What is the value of that draft pick - more likely than not late in the 20's.

What are the odds that guy becomes a quality NBA player ? 50/50 at best ?

How long does it take for that player drafted late in the 20's to develop and actually help you win ? one year , two , three ? This franchise is in win now mode …. not developing guys for 3 years down the line. The window is narrow , you have to maximize your chances.

If you can turn that 50/50 chance into a quality player that helps you immediately , you do it , especially for an over the cap team that's trying to win NOW.

I don't think Shump is as bad as many on here believe. Feel like he never was able to get acclimated with our style and could be much better if he went through a training camp. That being said, Iggy just brings way more to the table and fits exactly what we've needed on the wing and totally worth a 1st.

Damn so basically our future really relies on Kawhi, something I posted earlier.

All it takes is Shumpert in terms of salary.

Only the guaranteed salary would qualify for matching purposes. You have to send out $12.888,888.75 to match Iggy's salary. That's just below the figure that would trigger BYC for Shumpert (13.2m).

<13m is also enough that Memphis saves some money over what it would take to buy out Iggy , should they want to buy out Shumpert immediately - making him a free agent immediately.

Memphis saves a few million bucks and gets a first round pick - Rockets get a guy that helps them now.

Its highly likely that Memphis would buy him out instead of Iggy - he would be a free agent and could pick where he wants to go and get a windfall of a few million bucks in the process.

    Win / Win for Shumpert.

One thing to consider is the timing …. You can get him now because you can sign Shumpert and ship him out to get bought out.
You may or may not have that bullet to fire later. He may not want to sit around all season waiting on you to trade him,

I like Iguodala as a vet because he seems to know his place. I don't think his ego is big. That, and he's a real glue guy who can do everything on the court.

Memphis got the deal of the century for this guy.

They got 3 1sts from gs and are probably gonna get another from somebody.

    Kudos to them.

Lol no telling how long this trade will take to happen. Anything good for Houston teams only come two ways... by surprise out the blue or by some hellified looooooooong process that causes you to not even want the guy you traded for by the time that guy gets here.
